Modern or Traditional: Ring Shopping?

Mostly traditional. He knew I loved white gold and Celtic love knots. When he started shopping, he learned that style didn't exist so he had one custom-designed for me

I wasn’t shy with showing my FH my likes and dislikes of rings. But when it came to actually getting the ring (I honestly didn’t expect the proposal and was starting to believe it’ll never happen) he ended up using his moms engagement ring which I absolutely love..it’s a simple ring but it’s got a purple gemstone (my favorite color) and I love the fact that it came from the family.

MODERN!!!

We had talked about marriage several times from the day we got together. We had been friends for 15 years and so when we finally gave it a go, we knew pretty quickly where we were headed. We went ring shopping a few times. We even looked online together. I actually found something while talking to him on the phone during my lunch break. The ring, although not something I'd typically choose, completely captivated me. It was the only thing I had reacted to like that. Before I could even tell him it was the one, he sent me some money and told me to buy it. I brought it home and gave it to him and didn't see it again until months later when he proposed.

Traditional! I showed FH endless pictures of solitaire rings, gave him all my research and wants on the 5 C's, and basically paved the way and then never talked about it again. He ended up picking one on his own (with opinions from my parents) and even though it wasn't what i thought i wanted, i love it more than i could imagine! (except that it doesn't fit right, that's another story)

Very non-traditional. I found my ring. It was something I loved already and planned to get it for myself. We decided to turn it into my engagement ring!

Traditional! Custom designed by him with some help/input from his mother. He knew what kind of jewelry I like in general, and designed a ring that could not be more perfect if he tried. Then he hid it for months before he proposed, but apparently I almost found it many times. He had to keep moving it. Haha.

FH wanted to make sure I had a ring that I loved, so we went shopping and designed it together. I am so glad that he did that, because what I had pinned on my pinterest board ended up not looking good on my hand!

H picked out the ring, I had no idea, we weren't even talking about marriage.

We went shopping together for all of our rings. We both didn't really know what we wanted and we both value each other's opinions. We loved the experience of shopping and picking the rings out together.

He let me pick it out. I knew when he picked it up.

Modern, my mom is a jeweler so I picked out my ring way before we even got engaged so I'd for sure get what I wanted, and then I'd know how expensive it was so I could change a few aspects to make it cheaper lol

Modern. We went ring shopping a couple times. The second time there was one that I couldn’t take my eyes off of. He snuck back there one day and bought the one I’d fallen in love with.

We were very non-traditional. We went ring window shopping multiple times and went to a wholesaler to have the ring customized. He picked the diamond within my specifications, but I got to design my ring. He wanted me to be happy with it since I’m the one that has to wear it. Love him and love the ring. Proposal was a semi surprise since I didn’t know when it was ready, but knew it had to come sometime soon.

It was definitely more traditional with us, he didn't go out and choose a ring, rather he was talking to my mother and grandmother(how they kept the secret from me is amazing!) and my grandmother took her engagment ring right off her hand and said to use that. I wear it every day now, and the only time I take it off is when I'm showering to keep soap out of it, and when I'm doing something that could damage it.
