We had looked together and talked about what I like in a ring (silver and sapphire) his great grandmother passed away and left him her ring saying to hurry up and propose (we both were super close to her)

he showed me the picture but didn't really say what it was for just asked if I thought it was pretty. I said yes because I just wanted to marry him already but honestly I hated it. It is gold and diamond and not even a big diamond lol I felt like such a spoiled brat but when he put it on my finger it all changed. I love my ring and wouldn't trade it or its memory for the world!

Non traditional. He showed me a ton of ring choices and told me to pick my top 5.

Non traditional all the way. I proposed and picked out my own ring as well as getting him a beautiful pocket watch.

Traditional. Long story short, my FH proposed with a ring that he wanted to propose to me with 10 years ago; we were teenagers and broke up before he could do it. I had my eyes set on another ring. So to customize it a bit, he asked for my parents help, they referred him to their jeweler, the jeweler chopped the top of the ring and replaced it with a princess cut solitaire diamond; which made it look very similar to the ring I had been eyeing.
I love my ring and wouldn't ask for anything more!

We looked online which was good because he is very simple and wanted a solitaire, but I wanted something more romantic and antique looking. I am glad we looked ahead of time so I got the perfect ring.

Super traditional, I think he had help from a few females on his side of the family which I was kind of surprised with. But he knew I wasn't going to be picky with a ring so he picked it out and totally surprised me.

He actually approached me about 6 months before proposing and said that when it came time for that, he had no idea what to do and was so nervous to get it wrong. I wear lots of rings and have a big collection so he felt extra pressure to get it right. The next weekend I went out and picked something myself, had the info written down on the jewelers business card and he stuck it in his wallet and kept it with him until he needed it 6 months later! I’m so happy with my ring and sometimes I do think about wishing there was some special way he picked it out on his own or it being more of a surprise but if you’re wearing it everyday you want to love it completely and I’m so happy with it

Thank you! I never imagined myself with a ring like this but my FH knows me better than I know myself! I can’t stop looking at it every chance I get

We went to Zales together and I picked a couple different rings, and he picked out the one that reflected me the most - my Rapunzel ring from the Disney collection! It was still a surprise when he proposed since I didn’t know what he picked or when he was proposing!

Traditional. Early on I had expressed my deep desire for him to pick something out himself, without any help if he decided to propose. I'm sure I made this more difficult for him. There was one detail I really wanted but kept to myself, a sapphire. We are exactly a year apart and it's our birthstone. To my surprise there was two in my ring he said one for him and one for me.

Traditional and then modern! He proposed with a solitaire ring he picked out and after being engaged for 10+ years we upgraded it to a halo ring. I picked out the style and we kept the center stone. I attached before and “after” pics.

Traditional on this one! FH picked the ring out himself and planned the proposal.

In between. He knew I liked pear, oval, and emerald shape and I liked how unique floating halos are. But he ultimately designed it himself. We had talked about going to look at rings, but we hadn't gotten to it, so I was very surprised. He did good.

I assisted a little. We went shopping for Christmas one year and stopped into a jeweler store. He told me I could try on rings so I did. I found one I absolutely loved! He turned around the next day and bought it. He held on to it for a couple of years though before he proposed.

We kinda went both ways. We originally picked out rings together and had them on layaway. We weren't engaged yet. We had some financial things come up and had to cancel the layaway. About a year later her surprised me with a proposal with a completely different ring and I'm so glad that he did. He said that he didn't think that the original rings that we had picked out were right after looking at them again. The rings he picked are everything I never knew that I wanted.

He was totally traditional but with some modern help. He asked my parents permission and then went to the jeweler alone and worked with the guy there for 2 hours. Pouring over my Pinterest looking for my general style. I don’t think I could pick a more perfect ring.

Mine was non-traditional. One night my fiancé bought up the conversation of getting engaged & I was overwhelmed with joy. So for my birthday, he bought me tickets to go see Taylor Swift live plus surprising me about going ring shopping. We bought my ring at JCP. They have such beautiful rings without having to empty your wallet. Plus, I love their lifetime warranty! They fix your rings without question asked! However, he kept the ring until he proposed to me couple of days later. It was perfect. : )

Traditional. I had no idea it was even coming. He proposed to me on Valentine's Day, but we were already engaged as I went the non-traditional route and asked him to marry me myself 6months prior. He asked again though because he felt I should have a ring, even though I never cared (I am not a jewelry person what so ever).
