He picked it out all on his own with no ideas from me since I was never expecting it

It was actually a bit of both for me. I went to Kays and picked out a few rings I like with my future stepson. Kay’s saved my favorites but I left the decision up to my FH on whether he liked the look of the ones on the list or preferred another one. He ended up picking the ring I was in love with in the end.

I had mentioned a family ring to him a long time ago, and he talked to my mom about it before he proposed. It wasn't a given though, and I knew buying one himself was a possibility. I trusted him with doing it, and never said too much about specific rings ahead of time.

I've had a pinterest board of rings since I was single (lol) and I revamped it and made it private, but added him as a collaborator so he could see what I liked and we talked about it together. I told him the style I liked and my preferences (rose gold, not too bulky), but he picked it out on his own and added his own touch to the ring. I love it and always get compliments on it. It was still a surprise proposal, well kind of, and I had no idea what kind of ring he was actually getting, but him knowing what I liked definitely helped. It's so much money, I would hate to not be happy with the ring.

FH picked it out on his own! He definitely knew what type(s) I would like, and we had gone in and looked at rings before, but I had never said "oh I want that one!"

A few months before he proposed I'd sent him a bunch of links of rings I liked (with the preface of - no pressure, this is just for when you're ready). He picked out a ring that was in a similar style to ones I liked but wasn't from the list. So I guess a mix of modern and traditional?

Very non-traditional. I knew he was planning on buying a ring soon after he sold his house and he knew that I had a ring in mind that I had fallen in love with. When closing day came, he went to the bank to deposit the check and pull out money, then picked me up but didn't mention anything about where we were going so I thought we were just going out for lunch or something to celebrate him selling his house. He drove straight to the jewelry store and told me to pick out the ring that I loved. Guess that was my proposal lol, how romantic huh? I didn't expect it to happen that day, so it was a complete surprise to me.

He had an amazing proposal planned out because he thought that's what I wanted, I ended up finding out about his plans, so I told him that I didn't need some elaborate proposal (it's the 2nd marriage for both of us). He was so relieved because he is totally not the romantic type lol, so he was happy to keep it simple by just taking me to the jewelry store.

Aww that's awesome!! That was smart of him to do it further in advance, that way he could surprise you with the proposal! Smiley smile

A mix of both? I guess lol.
FH asked me to give him my top 3 style choice of ring. Like in a perfect world, what would I want? (Pear cut, emerald, and the octagon/hexagon shaped) He then went from there, and picked out my ring all on his own. And let me tell you, it’s STUNNING!!!! He truly outdid himself on this one 😍

He originally bought me an engagement ring traditionally(which i HATED btw) but we held onto to it for a while until we finally started planning our wedding and set a date, once we set our date and finalized the venue and other important things, we went to KAY together, at first I wanted to do something traditional, but once he actually bought me the first ring, I remember being so disappointed (I didn't tell him that because its not right) So when we went together we decided to get an engagement & wedding band set that matched and didn't cost too much, it worked perfectly because he got to surprise and we got to do it together and get something we both loved

We got legally married LOL, then 3 months later he bought me a 1 carat sapphire. I didn’t care for it (I wanted bigger and more teal colored than blue), so we went to the jewelry store together and I picked out a 3 carat London blue topaz which they mounted onto my great grandmother’s 100 year old wedding band.

Traditional! I had no idea about it, he doesn't have Pinterest nor did he care to see mine, he went all by himself and it is everything I ever wanted and more
