Modern or Traditional: Ring Shopping?

He got it in his own. Had it custom made in Australia and shipped to him with no knowledge on my part to what it was. I think I had shown him a Zelda themed ring in the past, but he never remembers anything so I was very surprised he got this one. Needless to say, he did great! And, he didn't get diamonds even though I only mentioned once that I'm not a fan.

We went looking at different styles together in 2015 so he was able to see what I like..2017 he proposed & my ring was similar to the ones that I tried on & liked.

Rose gold with my birthstone (aquamarine) in the middle and diamonds on the sides. I liked rings that seemed inspired by nature and flowers and this one fits that.

Modern mainly..we went to go look at things I liked & then 2 yrs later he desined a ring but it was basically what I wanted

I think its a standard round cut, under one carat.

My FH and my mom picked out the ring together. Prior to that, I had only hinted (ok strongly hinted with a few pictures throughout the years lol) at what I would like. I let him know the shape I liked and he went from there. They picked beautifully!

Um....we were far from traditional in any way. I bought my own ring. My now-hubby couldnt afford to buy one for me, so I picked out a beautiful Neil Lane set and purchased it myself. It stayed in its box until he was ready to propose. I know that doesnt seem "right" to most, but I dont really care. I got the set I wanted and wear it with pride! If anyone asks or compliments his "choice" on my set, I let him say he bought it.

Definitely non traditional. He told me he wanted to marry me and started asking what I like. Me being me I already knew I didnt want a diamond center and a laundry list of other things so we went together to pick it out. We ordered it together but he picked it up when it came in so I couldn't actually have it until he proposed with it a few weeks later.

Omg, so gorgeous!!! I think it's awesome what you did, you picked out something you wanted and didn't expect him to buy it because you knew he couldn't afford it, nothing wrong with that!!

He took me shopping for our e ring, and we picked out a few options that we both liked. I picked out my wedding ring. Love my set!

He designed it all himself. I had NO IDEA! Went to Vegas for a kid free vaca and he proposed at the Eiffel Tower! He even called my dad my father(biological) and asked their permission.

Traditional

My fiance asked what styles I liked, so I sent him a pic of a ring I really liked (white gold, pearl in the center with two small sapphires on either side). I told him I liked that design with either blue or green stones flanking the pearl, and left the ultimate color up to him. He ended up picking emeralds, and I couldn't be happier with my ring (even though he bought it in February but didn't propose until almost July lol).

I have mine a helpful “suggestion” and he ended up getting the one I wanted but a bigger stone!

Traditional! I didn't want to know he was looking, or what it looked like that or that he was planning on proposing. I think it should be a complete surprise.
