Modern or Traditional: Ring Shopping?

We were definitely modern. I went ring shopping on my own first because I didn't want him to be pressured by salespeople while I'm trying to decide what I like. Once I figured out what I liked I showed him a couple pictures of styles I was interested in. He actually went in a slightly different direction but had some elements of what I wanted. I'm happy it has his touch on it. I initially wanted princess cut but he got round because he liked the diamond when looking at it. It has the pave band and the surprise diamond on the side that I wanted. I also gave him the name of the jeweler since I was the one who did the research on where to go.

My ring is definitely modern - we designed this ring using antique hand-cut 1920's diamonds, in an Art Deco/ modernist style, which wraps around my finger and glows like a galaxy.... It is also modern in the sense that this is both my wedding ring & E-ring, because any other ring would distract from the design and look awkward. Love my ring!

He picked it out by him self but while he was shopping asked for ideas! lol it was so funny. hes like they dont have the exact idea you want what about this? I knew he bought it but he waiting another 5 months to purpose! The ring is perfect and I never knew I would like this style! lol

This took a few weeks of convincing. I really wanted him to purchase a ring that he liked and something that reminded him of me when he saw it. He really wasn't into that idea because he wanted me to love it since I'll be wearing it everyday for the rest of my life. (Had to admit, he had a point there.) But he really convinced me when he showed me the ring that he had previously purchased. (SPOILER ALERT) It was not cute... At all. Not to sound shallow, I feel like it can easily come across that way, but it was a big no thank you from me. Ended up with something totally different.

1 ct., no halo, and diamond band. Those are my favorite things about my current ring, as opposed to the .5 ct with a twisty band and 3 diamonds.
