Traditional. FH already doesn't like speaking in public. Otherwise, I would do modern vows.

They weren't the standard traditional vows, but they were repeat-after-me vows. I love how they turned out.

Traditional! I have been to MANY weddings because my dad is a minister and I've always loved the simplicity of the traditional vows. I love the biblical significance and the fact that my grandpa quoted them to me as his marriage advice after being married 70 years.

Modern. I want us to write the vows. DH said he isn't good at writing things and to have to read in front of people will be hard but I feel like as long as he tries it's going to be special to me.

Traditional, I thought about writing our own but my FH's romantic side is usually brought out through gestures and not words.

We're writing our own so modern. We also aren't religious so we're kind of writing our own ceremony as I'm not a huge fan of some of the traditional phrasing.

We chose custom non traditional vows and are having the same ones for our renewal.

On our anniversary we renew. 32 years as friends. 8 years a couple, and best of all 6 years of marriage and it is just our beginning!

Traditional. But my fiancee found an older Irish wording that she likes so much better than the American one so she at least is using that one, I might as well, havent decided yet.

That's super unique, Jennifer! Is your fiancee Irish? Smiley heart Will you be incorporating any other cultural details into your wedding plans along with your traditional Irish vows?

We are both Irish American, she just happened to come across those vows and felt that they better said what we feel. We will be giving everyone a bell to ring as we leave the church for good luck which is traditional and want to do a handfasting as part of the ceremony. Other than that we are incorporating our family tartans and will have traditional music playing during the reception - mostly during dinner but we will have a couple fun reels and jogs thrown in during dancing. We are also offering a Wassail toast - which is both a thank you and a wish of good health from a host to their guests with a Wassail punch (mulled apple cider mixed with lemon juice and water to thin it out a bit).
