Who has chosen a moissanite ring over a diamond? We are looking to upgrade my center stone and I just want opinions! Post pics if you have them.

My ring is Moissanite, and I absolutely ADORE it! It’s so beautiful and sparkly, especially in sunlight! The center stone is a Forever One, which is the clearest stone from Charles & Colvard. My wedding band also has moissanite stones. Not that I really care if people know it’s not a diamond, but no one has even been able to tell. In my opinion, they are just as good if not better than diamonds! Plus, they are perfectly made and not nearly as expensive!

I love my moissanite! I was also anti diamond for a variety of reasons, but still wanted the look. I love that it is created by science, and discovered in meteorites. I call it my sparkly space rock!

I also love that I could get a large stone, and an older cut. I got an old European cut.

We did also purchase this sapphire and diamond band, I will be wearing as a wedding band, on my right hand. I feel less bad about buying vintage jewelery.

So where do you ladies get these? I just got my diamond enhancer but have recently gone vegan and am loving the non violent ethical approach.

I remember your post about wedding band on the right hand, when I said go for it! I’ll be wearing my wedding band on the right hand too, because my moissanite e-ring is large & unique. I love my sparkly, science, space rock too 😊 And so glad you got that band you liked!

I like clear stones and have no attachment to diamonds hence why I wanted moissanite for its sparkle, strength and clarity. I’m straight up with people and say it’s moissanite btw, I’m proud of having moissanite rather than a diamond. DeBeers is the biggest scam, making people think they’re worth what they pay when in reality you wouldn’t be able to sell it for more than half what you paid.

This!! I’m not like OH HEY STRANGER LOOK AT MY MOISSANITE. But if I’m talking with family or friends about my ring, i will say that it’s a different gemstone than a diamond and explain it and our decision. Not “i have a fake diamond ” 🙄

I have a diamond but I know a couple people with moissanites. I’ve read a lot about how they tend to get an oil slick like stain which would drive me nuts. It’s not my thing but I love seeing all the variety of engagement rings people choose.

My ring is a Moissanite center with Morganite halo. I chose Moissanite because like the other ladies with the blood diamond issues as well as the cost of diamonds are really high for no reason. I love my ring and Moissanite really does look like a diamond. Although I didn't get Moissanite to pass it off as a diamond, I find a little funny when I walk in a jewelry store and the salesperson say how pretty my ring is and how big the "diamond" is. The funny part is telling them its a Moissanite lol.

Personally, I like the look of a diamond, high quality CZ, white sapphire, moissanite. But I don't believe in mined stones nor the diamond industry. Moissanite has a greater hardness than CZ and white sapphire, so it's the most durable for a clear stone (aside from diamonds). People do think my stone is a diamond, but I like to take the time to educate others about moissanite when they ask about it. I'm not trying to pass it off mine off as a diamond. Most have never heard of a moissanite stone, so it's a great conversation to have. By no means am I saying everyone needs a moissanite instead of a diamond, but I want to educate people that there are other alternatives out there that they may have never heard of.

THIS!!! It's okay to want a moissanite. It's okay to want a diamond. It's okay to want whatever stone you want. But just because a diamond costs more, does not mean it's more valuable or higher quality. Yes, it's harder, but not by too much. I didn't get a moissanite engagement ring so it would appreciate in value. It's an emotional piece of jewelry that I will have for the rest of my life, but still be able to pass it down as well.

Oil stain can happen to different precious stones, not just moissanite & depends heavily on how you care for your ring. If it does happen, it’s easily polished off with a special cloth you get for your ring. Reputable moissanite manufacturers like Charles & Colvard also give lifetime warranty on all their stones.
But of course, we are all free to like what we like 🙂

What ring is a good "investment"? I ask this because even diamonds depreciate. You buy a diamond today, get it appraised for $$$$ and then resell it and never make back what you "invested" in the diamond in the first place. Moissanite (though they come from a Meteorite) have only been manufactured for the last 20-30 years or so. Therefore, I don't think anyone really knows how a Moissanite will last. Although I do believe like any stone with proper care it should be fine.

I love my Moissy but I recently got the oil slick. Some girl on here said I got an oil slick because I got a "fake diamond". I didn't take it to heart because clearly she was uneducated on what a Moissanite was (she actually thought it was the name of a Jewelry store). I called C&C and they advised to use Wrights Silver Polish. I got some at Walmart for $4. It worked but its not good for gold because it makes it look dull. So I only put it on the Moissanite and then use the soapy water solution to clean it off and polish with gold cloth. Its not necessarily a hassle but its work. I love my Moissy though and the money we saved vs a diamond in my first marriage was ridiculous!!!
