Who has chosen a moissanite ring over a diamond? We are looking to upgrade my center stone and I just want opinions! Post pics if you have them.

Personally, I didn't want a diamond that was not lab-made. I would have loved Moissanite but I also really did not want a traditional clear diamond. So my FH surprised me with a 2CT ethical black diamond on a white gold setting and band with around .35CT of tiny diamonds surrounding it. Also the band matches the e-ring and I just cannot get over it.

I have a moissanite ring... I actually prefer moissanite over diamonds! They are just as beautiful, maybe even MORE beautiful, without the insane price tag. And no one will tell the difference!

Yes, Rosados Box is amazing! Their rings are so beautiful (I love their thin bands). I follow their Instagram and they seem to be coming out with lots of new/different styles all the time. Also, here is my ring from them :3

I’m getting a moissanite ring. The diamond ring I wanted was $5,000. The moissanite ring I want is $560. I can think of a lot of things to do with the extra $4500.

I proposed to my girlfriend, now fianceé with a moissanite ring she picked herself from Brilliant Earth for various reasons, but the top 2 are bc of the terrible ethics of diamond mining (which was important for me to not participate in) and because of budget reasons (which was very important for both of us). Eventually she's going to propose to me with a ring I also picked from them, and I'm really excited to see what it looks like up close! Hers looks beautiful!

I realize this conversation is older but I have a moissanite and perhaps this would be helpful for people who are still browsing! I know I looked at what felt like a million of these threads when I was researching moissanite originally.

We chose moissanite over diamond primarily for financial reasons. I love the look of diamonds but couldn't justify spending that much on a ring. I get the sentimental value but at the end of the day, it's a piece of jewelry. For us, we would rather save our money for a down payment on a house and I would have felt uncomfortable walking around with that much money on my finger!

Durability, price, and and having a clear stone were a priority for me. With these specifications, moissanite just made a lot of sense. I see a lot of people on forums like this either saying that they look exactly the same OR it's totally obvious to distinguish between the two. After wearing my ring for about six months, I fall somewhere in the middle. Everyone who comments on my ring assumes it's a diamond because most people aren't familiar with moissanite anyways. They see a clear stone in a nice setting and don't question it any further. I obviously pay more attention to my ring than others and I do see a noticeable difference in how my ring refracts light versus how my friend's diamond rings do. At first, I wasn't sure how I felt about how it; I'm not normally into sparkly things. However, the longer I've had it, the more I love moissanite. The sparkle in the sunlight is beautiful (IMO) and I can honestly say that I prefer the look to a diamond. My family members, who know it's moissanite, have been impressed with how nice it looks overall and the personality the sparkle gives it. I'd recommend moissanite to anyone who is open to the option of something slightly non-traditional. However, if you're deadset on a diamond right and are color sensitive, moissanite doesn't look exactly like it and you might be better going for a diamond in the long run.

Do you have a picture of your ring, I'd love to see it? That is such a beautiful reason and I so agree with that!! Although moissanite rings are pretty, I do agree with you in that they won't last as long. I actually have a ring I wear on my right hand that was my Great Great Aunt's. I knew her personally, she passed when I was a young teen. But I remember her and I love that I have something she once wore! The idea of being able to pass down heirlooms for generations is such a sweet thought.
