Mom's as flower girls?

wendy, on March 22, 2018 at 12:36 AM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 8

Hello I'm 47 years old and my fiance is 54. He has never been married and I'm getting married after 20 years of being single. I'm wanting to ask my mom and stepmom to be my flower girls. Obviously my grandparents are passed away and he lost his mother a couple of years ago. I really don't have nyone i want as a flower girl and honestly I wouldn't want them to necessarily drop flowers on the ground. I'm just looking for ideas of a way that I could ask my mom's to do something fun and cute to open the ceremony in lieu of a flower girl! Any ideas please? They are both in their 60s and we are a fun easy-going family. My wedding will be outside in the fall.PLEASE HELP~thank you

I think it’d be cute! I actually saw a viral story on grandmas that were flower girls and it was adorable.

That's sweet. Ask them if they are open to that.

I think it might be interpreted as trying too hard. I would have your Mom and Stepmom treated as VIP guests.

Thanks y'all. If they WERE my grandmother' it would deff be cute. I'm just torn. Our wedding is gonna be more of a big party that happens to have a wedding😁. So HOP guests sounds to stuffy. I'm having my sister's as bridesmaid, my son's are his groomsman add of course dad is walking me down aisle. I'm just trying to look for some ideas to include them in the wedding. Probably something to open ceremony. But something light and fun???

My 97 year old grandmother will be my one of my flower girls. I say do it, they sound like they'll have fun with that idea.

Please read this article about a 91 year old who was the flower girl for a wedding. She was such a hit, she came out in a magazine. I liked that she handed out roses to the guest as opposed to tossing petals. It is an elegant touch and a great idea.

If I were you, one could be your flower girl and the other, your Matron of Honor who represents you as an older person who will be there in your life to help and emotionally support you. If you have a Maid of Honor, that is usually a peer, and your Matron is your mentor. Having both is perfectly acceptable.

    A special "flower girl"

    Good luck and best!
