There isn't any appropriate way to ask for money. If you want money and not physical gifts, skip a bridal shower or couples shower 100%. Then don't register at all. Most guests will get the hint and gift cash.

Honeymoon fund would be an option if you’re going on a honeymoon for people to give you money but as pp said people will get the hint when there’s no registry

Just don't do a registry. It's the most non-rude option there is.

If you don't have a registry, people will get the idea.

The most polite way to imply you don't want gifts is probably to just set up a honeymoon fund on a website.

    A. Have no registry. People will gift cash or checks. Whether or not something is rude is cultural. Cash is the default gift for weddings in my culture. It’s whats socially expected, not rude. In fact, not giving cash would be viewed as rude.

    B. Honeymoon fund as sole item in registry.

I wouldn't do a typical wedding registry then, instead do a honeymoon registry. It's a website where all your friends can put money into it to help you pay for your honeymoon
