Monetary Gifts

Kyra, on September 1, 2019 at 3:44 PM Posted in Registry 0 7
My FH and I already live together and have a son. Instead of registering for items we don't really need we were thinking about asking for monetary gifts to go towards the down payment on our first home. I know most people would call it tacky but a lot of relatives we plan on inviting to the wedding have advised us on the idea of monetary gifts. This problem is we don't know how to ask our guests.

Hey Kyra! If you don't register or have a very small registry, most guests will get the hint and give cash Smiley smile

We had a small registry (< 30 items) and got tons of money as our gift!

You shouldn't ask for any kind of gift, especially money. Skip the registry and people will get the hint. They know that cash is a good gift without being told.

The best way is to not have a registry and people will give money or gifts cards but don’t ask for anything.

There's some cute little "poems" on pinterest I seen. We just got an invite in the mail, where they basically asked for cash but it didn't sound tacky the way they worded it
