Money Instead of Registry

Chrissy, on July 29, 2019 at 8:56 PM Posted in Registry 0 11

So my fiance and I do not want to have a registry because we are going to be moving to Texas right after we get married and don't want to be hauling a bunch of extra stuff down with us. That and honestly, we don't really NEED all that much and the things that we will find out that we do need won't be a huge deal to get. What we do want to do is ask for money to go towards a nice new bed.

Does anyone know how we could put this on our wedding website?

Thanks!

Welcome to WW! Usually if you don't register, people will just give you cash

Just don't register. People will get the hint. Most bring cash/checks to weddings.

However, if you don't register it would be in poor taste to have a wedding/bridal shower.

Just don’t register. People know that cash is a good gift without being told.

I found a little cutesy poem about asking for money for a house and put that on our website. I also registered with Amazon for a few things since I'm also having a bridal shower.

If you are just asking for money maybe have a spot in your venue like a basket or card holder so that way guests know to put their cards/money there. That way it is in one spot and they aren’t handing it to you and you misplacing it.

You can set up a fund (like a honeymoon fund but it's not called that) and it usually has a spot to say what the money will be used for. That way people can contribute and will know what their gift will be used for. We put a details card in with our invites that was a little poem about not needing gifts but that people could visit our website if they felt they needed to give us something and the link to our fund is on there.

What did you use on your website to collect the funds?

I used the honeymoon fund on The Knot. I think I had to type Honeymoon Fund in to say what it was for so you could always write New Bed or whatever you want to call it. When you are done setting it up it gives you a link you can share. I created a website on Wedding Wire and you can attach it via the registry page.

This is a good idea. I did that at mine! That way people know they can put envelopes with cards or money in it instead of handing it to you
