Monogram themed bridal shower??

Sherry, on February 25, 2019 at 12:51 AM Posted in Parties and Events 0 10
Has anyone done a monogrammed themed bridal shower? I had no intention of having one. It's both of our 2nd marriages and we've lived together for 7 years. We need nothing and had no intention of doing a registry. My FMIL is insisting that I allow her to throw me a shower. Shes southern, her friends are southern and she just wants to do something for me. I told her I didn't want an actual party, all eyes on me, gifts, games etc. She suggested a day of pampering...massages, mani/pedis, lunch, dinner, limo service to and from everywhere and anything else I want for the entire group. She is also insisting that I come up with some kind of registry and mentioned lingerie, um no! The only thing I can think of is monograms. My FH has been showering me with all kinds of gifts with what my new monogram will be, I'm doing monograms for my MOH and myself on our getting ready shirts etc. Has anyone ever done a monogram registry? Not necessarily with just my monogram but with the last name, his and hers items etc. Help!?!?

If you like monogrammed items, that sounds like a great idea. I'm not sure how you would do a registry for something like that though since must custom item sites like Etsy don't offer registries.

My dilemma. I don't wanna just hand her a list of things and be like, well here ya go, go buy me this stuff lol

I was thinking of maybe going on a site like Etsy as an example and setting up an account and maybe adding things to my cart and letting that serve as my registry. I don't know if that would work but I could try it ahead of time

I think the best option would be to just say something on the invitation like "help the bride embrace her new last name by gifting her a monogrammed or personalized item from your favorite shop!" Honestly, a bunch of southern women are already going to have their favorite place to shop for monogrammed items, they probably don't need a registry anyway lol. The Etsy account idea sounds great, but if someone forgets to delete something they've already purchased and end up with two, you typically can't return something that's customized.

While I was searching for invitation wording to see if this is something others have done, I found some really cute invitations that said "join us for monograms and mimosas," super cute for a theme and I think that'll make it even more clear that you want customized items.

Oh very true, didn't think of that but you're right, they probably do already have their favorite shops and honestly I can't think of any exact items I'd want, that would take a lot of browsing. I'm fine with them using their own judgement. Thank you for the wording too, I k ow I'm gonna have to put something on the invitation about it. Thankfully I have time but like everything else, I would rather get it figured out now instead of waiting and possibly forgetting lol. Thanks for the advice!! ❤

We have an Amazon registry, but my mom sent out little recipe cards with our invites for guests to write down a recipe and bring it back. Then my mom will put them all in a book for me. She is getting married after I am (second marriage) and I'm going to either do an alcohol or succulent themed shower, since she doesn't need gifts but loves both those things!

If you like the monogrammed items, then yes, go for it. We don't really need things, but we'd like to upgrade some items.

    Other ideas/themes not "registry gift":

Stock the Bar Shower - if you like to drink or host, this is great

Recipe for Marriage Shower (as mentioned above, everyone just shares their favorite recipes)

Remodel Shower - a friend of mine did this, it was interesting.. they were remodeling their bathroom and people brought them gift cards for Lowes/Home Depot, etc

Kitchen Shower - they'd bring about anything kitchen related, great if you like to cook

House Plant Shower - everyone would bring you a plant, have a green thumb for this one haha

Create A Date Shower - people can either write down date ideas or bring you items to go along with the dates (ex: for a movie/dinner date bring gift cards for each)

Hobby Shower - is there something you/FH love to do? Fishing, hiking, cooking, movie night, etc

I had to come back and find your post because, while working on our Amazon registry, I noticed that they have lots of personalized items, more than I ever expected. Maybe you could consider an Amazon registry for your monogram themed shower!

Aww, that was so sweet to come back but its been decided that there wont be a shower after all. The people most important to me are too far away to be able to come.
