Monogrammed shirts for bridesmaids

LeeAnn, on June 29, 2021 at 10:21 PM Posted in Planning 1 4

I'm getting married in October and one of the items I'm gifting my girls are buffalo check button-down shirts for getting ready. I bought plain ones and am super torn about having them monogrammed. I'd like them to be able to wear the shirts again, and personally, I wouldn't want to wear a monogrammed flannel shirt. I'm also gifting them personalized hangers and monogrammed garment bags so am also feeling like monogrammed shirts might be a little ...monogram overkill. On the other hand, is it not special enough if I just gift them plain shirts? My other thought is to do some sort of personalization just on the cuffs, so it's a bit more subtle. (FWIW I'm also gifting them their jewelry for the wedding and got them fun matching shirts for my Nashville bachelorette party) I feel like I'm way overthinking this! :-D

Haha no worries, everyone overthinks everything after a certain amount of wedding planning. I would say no monogramming the shirts, unless you do the cuffs. That sounds subtle enough that I would wear it again. But it sounds like you getting a lot of things so I wouldn't worry about plain shirts being "enough."

Everyone overthinks stuff during wedding planning, so don't feel bad haha! I agree with Amanda, I would skip the monogram on the shirts if you don't do it on the cuffs. I personally like monograms, so I would wear it again if it was on the pocket, but not everyone likes them, so putting it on the cuff would be a subtle touch they could hide by simply rolling the sleeve up.

You've got a lot of stuff that's personalized already, so I don't think the shirts would be too "plain".

It’s absolutely Norma to be overthinking these things. That’s what we do 😊. I wouldn’t monogram the shirts. I think the girls are more likely to wear them again if they aren’t monogrammed.

I wouldn't want to wear the shirt again if it was monogrammed, but if it was on the cuff of the sleeve I would! That way it's subtle but not overkill.
