More NO to RSVP than expected

spring, on April 6, 2014 at 6:37 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 19

I invited about 141 people to my wedding about 127 adults the rest kids. I have gotten like 13 NOs already and I have like 55 RSVP MIA. I wasnt expecting so many and it mainly my side 9 from mine and 4 from my fiance ( 2 of which are from a couple who are coming but arent bringing their 2 kids). I am almost to the point of being hurt.

I hate to say it but your wedding is Memorial Day Weekend - a lot of people will be spending time with their families at a BBQ.

I'm sorry to hear that. We are having the opposite issue. We haven't had any No's and we have about 50% of the rsvps back already. I'm thinking any No's will wait until the last minute to respond but I wish they would let me know asap.

@GrayCat I don't think Memorial Day is the issue. Most of our guests are really happy that the wedding is Memorial Day weekend because it means they get to spend more time in Vegas without taking time off from work.

My deadline isn't until April 28th so there's still some time left.

We're just starting to get our RSVPs back. Ours is a flight away for about 90% of our guests. We invited 131 people and so far we have 5 yes and 7 no, I couldn't be happier, less money out of my pocket.

70 yes but out of that 62 adults so I need 38 more adults to meet the minimum. I am sure we will make the 100 but I wasnt expecting so many NOs still

I don't think it has anything to do with Memorial Day weekend. If someone's going to choose a family BBQ over your wedding, those aren't the kind of friends you need. Chin up, when I started following up on RSVPs many were yeses that had just forgot to RSVP or "assumed I knew" they were coming. Lol

Don't worry! We invited 170 and ended up with 86 Yes. Everyone is so spread out I knew it was going to be hard to get a group together. The 86 that are coming are all amazing and truthfully some of the people that aren't have been eye opening and have made me reevaluate friendships a bit (choosing a bachelorette party over the wedding? Really?) but I'm so excited to have the 86 that will be there, it's going to be perfect!

I disagree, I think it might have something to do with the weekend. I remember when my FH's brother got married on labor day weekend, everyone was bitching. Our friends are all boaters and to miss labor day weekend out on the water is a huge issue here. lol.

Luckily you still have a few more days before your RSVP due date, and hopefully you will get the number you need Smiley smile

I invited 145 and had 104 respond yes. 95 Showed up that day. Had a great time with the people that came. A couple of the no show's had good reasons, but some just blew it off. I can't worry about it. It was their loss cause we had a blast. Now they keep asking details and we are very vague and don't give them much. We gave them our picture website so they can look at the pictures and see what they missed.

I think it has a little to do with the wedding being on a holiday weekend. Many have plans set in stone yearly. We had to go to a wedding a few years ago on Labor Day and I was not pleased about taking my 3 day weekend from work to travel and miss out on more work for FH's friends wedding. Did you send out save the dates early enough to let these people know that your wedding is on a holiday weekend? Hopefully you have a good turn out. Just remember, that you will be surrounded by the people that love you on your big day.

Hey date twin, so far we have 49 Yes, 44 No, out of 230 invited, our deadline is May 1st. Am I bummed? Not yet, I am expecting half of our guest list to show up because more than half of our guest list is OOT. We need 130 to meet our minimum, if we don't meet our minimum than we will be upgrading, I know that FH is already looking forward to a scotch bar if we need to meet our minimum.

I wish our venue would let us upgrade to something but they didn't offer that as an option. They just said 100 adults if we don't get that then children or vendors which are less $$ will count toward the minimum until the 100 is meet.

One official no today and and two questionable NOs the guest sent back the RSVP envelope but no RSVP card indicating accepts or regrets and a check . So I am assuming its a NO or they would of given the check later.

Spring I'm right there with you except for the fact that I have over 50 still out. I forgot to put a decline portion on the RSVP. So the ones that I have received are yes's but I'm starting to think I'll be making A LOT phone calls in 10 days... lol
