Morganite Engagement Rings Anyone?

OnCloudRawls, on January 22, 2019 at 1:19 PM

I remember telling my FH back in 2017 that I wanted a morganite engagement ring. He decided to design my 3-sided ring himself and I absolutely love it! Anyone else have a morganite stone? Show us your engagement ring!! Did your significant other design the ring?

Hey Teyanna! It's so beautiful!! I love Morganite rings, but you're so right, I never see them as the side stones! I'll attach one of my favorites!

My moissanites are colorless. Honestly, they look like diamonds to me if I didn't know any better! The company I purchased my rings made sure to let me know that quality-wise, side stone diamonds are better than side stone moissanites because of the industry producing and cutting side stone diamonds vs. moissanites. But when I told him I didn't want any sort of diamond in my rings, he went on to tell me that the moissanite ring would still be beautiful and you probably won't be able to tell the difference unless you compared it to a diamond band. I'm gonna attach a pic of my set together. Unfortunately I don't have an up close photo of them together, but if I can get it from FH and take one later this week, I'll definitely post it!

The listing you posted does say "simulated diamond ring," but I do agree it's a little sketchy that the seller dances around the subject and says the moissanites are natural. Is your moissanite going to be coming from Charles and Colvard? I'd probably want to know where the moissanites are sourced from. Also, yeah simulated diamonds can mean a lot of different things, versus lab-created diamond or synthetic diamond means it should have the same properties as a real diamond.

    Hi! New here 👋🏾

I am so happy to have gone with an alternative stone! It seems I get more compliments than anyone that has a diamond engagement ring. I will say it proving to as high maintenance as others have mentioned on these forums. You do need to keep it clean to get that sparkle, but I wouldn’t trade my stone for anything else!

    This is SO stunning, Ericka!

How often do you find you have to get it cleaned?

    Thank you! 😊

I’d say keeping it on while washing your hands is enough. I also keep a microfiber clothed on me because I wear glasses, so I’ll wipe it down with it every so often during the day. Nothing crazy! I haven’t had it professionally cleaned just yet

That doesn't seem too difficult. It would be a headache if you had to keep getting it professionally cleaned! Carrying a microfiber cloth is a great idea, especially for people who don't wear glasses!

New on here! I have always had a diamond but lost mine. (Already married with children but planning a renewal for several reasons). So when looking to replace/ upgrade, I really wanted something different. We got a morganite because I wear rose gold and I love the pink and peach tones with the rose gold. I have a Neil Lane morganite wedding set and I am so in love with it. My morganite center stone is a 10 X 7.5 mm, 2.75 carats, set in a rose gold setting with 3/4 carats of diamond. The sparkle I get especially in low lighting is amazing. The ring just glows! I love how the color is lighter in natural light and more saturated in low light. Pics below in different lighting. I have researched a lot and plan to take extra care of it. I have read so many different reviews or opinions. Some really love it and others seem to hate it. I have mostly seen a lot of “negativity”’towards the maintenance of the stone and that it isn’t an”forever” stone. However through my research which included talking to an experienced gemologist and my grandmother who has been in jewelry for years and practically has very gem stone out there, I was assured that if taken proper care of, it can last a lifetime. I have also read that on GIA’s website as well. GIA rates morganite as suitable for everyday wear. They do tend to need more cleaning than a diamond but a little warm water and mild soap will shine it right back up I have read. Also if the stone does get scratched causing any haziness or cloudy appearance I plan to take it to a certified gemologist and have it polished which hopefully will correct that issue.

I am curious though if anyone here has had their morganite for 1-3+ years and if they have noticed any considerable discoloring or issues do I enjoy reading the post of other morganite queens. My research says this shouldn’t happen but I am still curious as to others experiences so far.

My pictures don’t do any justice. My morganite is a pinky peach color, but not as dark as my phone seems to capture.

Ok well I am not sure that worked either lol. I am pretty tech savvy, not sure what’s going on. If my pictures didn’t post and anyone has an iPhone ( mine is the XR) and can direct me on how to post a picture so it will show up please let me know. ❤️

Hi, hoping this message still finds you in 2020. The pics of your ring aren't posted but I am in the process of choosing b/t pink morganite and peachy morganite and would really like to see your pics if you don't mind trying again.

This is my right hand morganite ring. Mine is extra peachy so I can never get the color right on a picture, but this is pretty close.
