Morning of Cocktails?

Nyikee, on February 10, 2019 at 10:40 PM

I'm looking to have a morning of cocktail for my girls and myself for before/while we get ready and while we wait for the time to come! What are some ideas you have or have seen?

I completely agree about it being a bit harsh/judgy sometimes. One of my first experiences in the forums was with someone being super rude and judgy because she didn't want to understand or believe my situation ( i was planning at work and didn't have access to email or my cell phone or anything that would allow me to take my planning home with me at the end of the day and so i made a post about it and she just didn't think that it was appropriate for discussion, i guess? I'm really not sure) so she reported my thread and it was taken down. Had she said what she said differently or less aggressively, i wouldn't have felt so attacked.

Planning is going pretty good, I feel like I have a HUGE head start, because I have so much done already as far as selecting vendors and stuff, but there's just a few things that I have to wait to plan and I am so impatient! My wedding is just under a year away (355 days now) , and I've gotten most things worked out. This website has been my literal biggest help with working out what I need to make the details fit together and figuring out what I'm trying to understand or decide on. How's planning going for you?

Agree with mimosas! We did this the morning before going dress shopping so it has become a staple “morning totty” for our female wedding festivities! Smiley smile

Kir Royale- Raspberry syrup/raspberries and champagne.

    Mimosa- OJ & champagne.

You can do screwdrivers (OJ & vodka), mimosas with prosecco (still bubbly) instead of champagne, or bloody Mary's (I don't like them but they are served during brunch). I love a good mimosa so that's what I'll be leaning towards!

The fruit smoothies definitely sound like a good idea that I may have to use also haha.

I’ll have mimosas as well. I don’t plan on drinking mimosas because I don’t want to get bloated so I might stick to white wine. I like the option kiki said to have some juice with the wine as well!

Thanks. It works good with coffee too.
Smirnoff makes a Peppermint vodka, usually around the holidays. Although you can use the peppermint schnapps- that makes it sweeter tho.
The mint teas work well with plain vodka too though.
And if you add a little strawberry and the tea is mint, vodka plain, it is a super light and refreshing flavor!

    Mimosa bar.
Orange, grapefruit, cranberry juice and apple cider are all excellent mixers for it

I’m sorry your first experience was so bad but I’m glad that you hung around. Don’t feel bad I have personal fans that particularly flag my comments just because they personally don’t like me or my opinions LOL

My planning is pretty much done at this point in time or just try to pay for things and I’m trying to organize how everything will actually be laid out and set up

I'm personally not a fan of mimosa's so that wouldn't be my drink of choice. I plan on doing cordials (bailey's, kaluha, godiva white chocolate liquor) for us to have in our coffee as we are all coffee fanatics. And then a white wine toast for closer to use getting ready. I am usually not a huge fan of white wine, but I'm also clumsy as anything and would be the person to spill red wine all over my dress.

Mimosas, Bellinis (SO delicious), screwdrivers, Irish coffees, Baileys, there so so many breakfast beverages to look into. Pinterest usually has a ton of cute ideas! Also for sure look into finger food/brunch ideas so you and your girls can have something in your stomachs to go with the alcohol. There are amazing egg muffin recipes out there as well as cinnamon rolls and fruit. Our ceremony will not be until 6:30pm so we will be going light on alcohol overall until the reception. We will most likely have a bridal brunch and lunch before getting ready. Good luck with your planning!

I don't plan on having cocktails the morning of but we will pop a bottle of rose or champagne together, other than that I just planning on having coffee available and lots of herbal/fruit infused water like lemon lavender.

That sound perfect! I agree, for light drinkers they can add more OJ and less bubbly.

I'd stick with mimosas and bloody marys, normal morning drinks! I'd go light on bloody marys too, vodka can hit people quickly. You can always do a bunch of different juices for everyone to drink with champagne.

I'm going to have whisky and lemonade tea for my wedding crew. It's an Irish wedding, so whisky is going to play a big part! haha. Plus the lemonade tea can be made with Crystal Light or something similar with low sodium and no carbonation to prevent bloating. Obviously, we'll keep the whisky to a minimum before the ceremony; however, most of my bridesmaids are also Irish, so we tend to metabolise whisky well and don't get drunk of it very easily.

That's a totally awesome idea!!! You just gave me the idea of an early morning starbucks run and giving the girls an option of spiking their drinks with Baileys or Kahlua! Or, of course, if they want, something a little stronger ( i'd get the mini bottles of alcohol for them) I'd provide that option too.

I will be having a small bottle of white wine for us for after we're all dressed and are waiting around, just because I like wine and think it would be a pretty cool photo op!

That's a pretty awesome idea! I completely understand being irish and drinking! My dad's side of the family is irish and most of them drink alcohol like fish drinks water! We will also be going pretty light on the hard liquor in the morning, and we will be having an open bar, so we will have plenty of time to let loose!
