Most memorable parts of a wedding?

Hey everyone! So I’ve gotten all the big things out of the way and now spend my free time looking at the details. I feel like I’m getting lost in the details of things that people will say “Aw, that’s so cute!” And promptly forget about them. So, with that in mind: 1. In previous weddings you’ve...
Hey everyone!
So I’ve gotten all the big things out of the way and now spend my free time looking at the details. I feel like I’m getting lost in the details of things that people will say “Aw, that’s so cute!” And promptly forget about them. So, with that in mind:

1. In previous weddings you’ve attended, what have been the most memorable positive things?
2. What have been the most memorable negative things?
3. Are there any “small details” you remember from a wedding and thought were a great touch/added to the overall experience?

I guess I mostly remember really great food. One I was at had the most delicious fresh buffet. Another one I was at had a taco bar roll out at like 10 pm for a nighttime snack and it was killer, everyone loved it, I thought it was super awesome. I don’t remember many bad things except just when a reception room is way too big for the amount of people there because that’s kinda awkward and one I was actually in where pretty much no one danced the entire night.

Im not a dancer, so I enjoyed when my friends got married, they had other things to do like board games, cornhole, D&D (not joking, we're nerds).

The absolute worse thing at weddings for me is when you invite small children and have nothing for them to do. I had a friend who had custom coloring pages printed and crayons, they rented a bubble machine for later when the kids got extra whiny. One friend had on location "day care" with a company that set up a ball pit and bounce house and stuff. Extra long ceremonies and big gaps between ceremony and reception are also bothersom. When my cousin got married it was almost a 2 hour ceremony, 4 hour gap until the reception that was across town. In Detroit.

That's reasonable though, which is also why etiquette says you have 3 months. But it seems odd to me that they had the time to send save the dates, and invitations to us to have us come and bring a gift, but couldn't find the time to thank us for traveling to their wedding, sitting through the very long ceremony and bringing them a nice gift. The way you are planning on doing it sounds perfect, a note and a card with a picture from your cruise, I'd be happy to receive that as a thank you!

Totally agree about the kids! There will only be 2 or 3 children and they’re relatively well-behaved, but I will probably bring a coloring book and crayons for them in case

The good: fan programs and bug repellant bracelets at an outdoor summer wedding made a HUGE DIFFERENCE. Very cute and personal wedding cakes (at my brother's beach wedding, they had a funfetti sandcastle cake they made themselves). The love! I always remember the emotion of the couple during their vows.

The bad: outdoor ceremony on a 105 degree day, in full sun, at peak of day. Also, the two girls in bikinis who decided it was appropriate to hang out and watch the wedding RIGHT BEHIND THE SPOT WHERE THE COUPLE WAS EXCHANGING VOWS (wedding was at a public beach but off to the side of it on a lawn...obviously this wasn't the fault of anyone involved with the wedding it was just like REALLY?!"). Being seated at a table away from alllllll of my family, with total strangers, while an empty seat was left at the table where my family was...and being yelled at by the coordinator when I tried to move. 2 1/2 hour cocktail hour with no sign of the couple.

Small touches: I can honestly say I remember no small touches regarding decoration, I remember experience over all.

You can switch out dollars for wedding wishes. Have them write something down on special stationary and hand them in.
