Mother of bride not attending dress shopping

Courtney, on October 1, 2021 at 1:19 AM Posted in Family and Relationships 0 10
I had told my wedding party the date and time of my appointment about 3 months ago. When I went to confirm it with everyone my mom said that she's going out of town this weekend. She planned a trip over my appointment even though she knew and confirmed that date would work for her. I'm actually really hurt. My dress shopping apointment is Saturday. Even though I have a huge support system coming it's still really hard to know my mom's not gonna be there. I never once would have imagined her not being a part of this. I asked her if she could reschedule her trip when I found out about it. She told me she couldn't because she already put money down. I just want my mom to be there. I guess that's what happens when your the youngest. I feel totally unimportant to here.
Also I need dress type suggestions for a short curvy girl.

I would go on with your plans. Once you're in the dresses, nothing else will matter much. Also, look for A line dresses, look good on shorter gals

It’s really tough to face, but unfortunately, our expectations when it comes to wedding planning is often unattainable. It sucks, but it’s better to learn now that your mom isn’t going to be the support that you were expecting. I’m sure she meant nothing malicious. I suggest you keep your date and enjoy the day. Try to let go of images you have in your mind of how each step should go, and enjoy the actual process.

I'm so sorry Courtney! That really stinks.

Did you go dress shopping this past Saturday, or is your appointment still coming up? If you have additional dress shopping appointments you could ask your mom to join you for those, or have her come to your alterations appointments! There are still a lot more moments where you can include her. Smiley heart

What Cool said that everything won’t go as expected or hoped.
I didn’t bring my mom dress shopping because she is so critical. Went by myself. I ended up buying a dress and immediately felt guilty for not inviting her. Afterwards, I tried my dress on to show her and my gut was right…she pointed out the flaws and criticized. This left me so annoyed and wishing I didn’t bother.
    Ah…Mothers.

Your dress is great! And your Mom missed a great moment! My daughter can't come to where I am & I can't go to her, so we'll both miss out. I'm heartbroken.

I am so disappointed. Can't believe your mom missed it!
