HELP! Current, Past and Future Brides in the Greater Philadelphia Region,
I want advice on where to take my mom shopping to get a dress. We went to one salon, told them our budget (which we thought was a pretty generous budget) and the lady picked out gowns for my mom that were twice her budget (without telling us) and my mom fell in love with one and then found out the price was insane. I want to avoid another occurrence like this, but also get my mom a rockin' dress.
My mom would like to spend no more than $750, but she would spend up to $1,000 if she loved a dress bec. she does go to other events she could re-wear the gown to. She has a great body (5'4, 120 lbs, killer arms) and is looking for something a-lined with a v-neck. She wants to go slightly on the less busy side bec. my dad will be wearing a kilt and she doesn't want to clash. The dress she tried on and loved was a navy satin a-line with v-neck, very classic, very Grace Kelly (was designed by Wayne Clark). My wedding colors are darker, so we want to stick in the navy, black, burgundy, grey, etc. palate.
Please help! I'm thinking maybe going to high-end department stores (like Neiman Marcus, Bergdorf Goodman, etc.) may make more sense than going to bridal salons. Thoughts?! Stores tried and proven?
Thanks!
