Mother of the Bride Dresses for Petite Mom

My mom is petite too. We have researched Macy's and Dillard's online and they have petite options ( I'm sure in store as well)

Most dresses that are sold as "mother of the bride" are old ladyish

Davids Bridal had a lot of dresses that were really nice and they always have something for every size and shape!

I hear you. My mom is 5 ft if that. LOL! She's a tiny little thing. There was no hope of finding a dress that didn't need to be altered. We just found a dress she liked in the smallest possible size and then had my seamstress alter it for her. Almost any dress is like a long dress on my mom. As to the style...well my Mom is in her early 80s but her dress, while conservative, still has a bit of pizazz to it.

My mom ended up with a skirt and top from lord and Taylor. She's 5' 1/2" and was able to pull the skirt short enough at the waist so it fit properly.

There is no need to restrict her search to "MOB" dresses. just find a dress that is suitable for the degree of formality of the wedding.

Dillards, Nordstroms, - not matronly

My mom is petite as well and had great luck at Davids Bridal. They had a really good selection and not so many typical "mother of the bride" pantsuits or dresses. I would definitely recommend looking there.

Try some of the nicer department stores--Nordstrom's, Saks, Lord & Taylor in their evening and cocktail dress departments.

My mom is about 4'11" and doesn't like old lady looking dresses either. She ended up finding a dress from TJ Maxx. She's going to hem it herself since she's a good seamstress.

My mom found her dress at JC Pennies. It's knee length and Navy. It has one inch straps and looks really nice. My mom is 5'4 and it looks good on her. I know one of my aunts found some of her MOB dresses at Dress barn too. Just spend a day at your local mall, that might be your best bet.

I think I commented on your Facebook post... but my mom bought hers from a seasonal prom shop. I would also stalk BHLDNs sales.

I took my mom shopping last month when she was here. We hit the big department stores, but had the best luck at Macy's. They had some petite sizes, but a great selection and good prices.

A formal BM dress or an evening gown at a department store with a petite section

This is my FMIL's. She's also pretty small and didn't want to look matronly. The sample was a 14, and she's a 4 so it was huge on her.
