I'm not really into classic county so I can't really help on that.

Is there a song that has some kind of special meaning to both of them? Something that brings back happy memories?

I did a combined mother/son father/daughter dance. We chose "Rum and Coca Cola" because my MIL loves rum and coke and I love how catchy the song is. http://genevieveswedding.blogspot.com/2011/01/fatherdaughter-motherson-dance.html

Our mother/son dance was Lynyrd Skynyrd's Simple Man. DH danced with his mom and I danced with our son. =) DH was singing every line of it and crying during the dance. lol.

My husband and my mother danced to Taylor Hicks song "Do I make you proud" His mother passed away in 2002 so he chose to dance with my mom!

FH wanted Simple man too but the Shinedown cover because the original was too long. But I told him to let his mom pick and she chose My Wish by Rascal Flatts

Here's one you might want to consider:

I'll Always Be Your Mother by Lynn Leonti & Jim McShane. It has an older country feeling with a piano bed, and even a fiddle!
