mua is M.i.a.

So I am 31 days away from my wedding and my MUA messages me to confirm we're still good for that day. Long story short, she believed she was told by my MOH (she knows her and my MOH is the one who put me in touch with her) that she would not be required to travel. After speaking to my MOH, she showed me a screenshot of their conversation and it in no way said there would be no travelling. So now she tells me she will be unable to come because she has other appointments later that day and our venue is an hour away.

So now I'm freaking out!! She said she contacted a friend of hers that is really good and she's worked with her on larger wedding parties and she agreed to do it and honor the price we were already quoted. I asked for this girl's information and am still waiting for a response from the original MUA.

Here am I thinking about how smoothly most of this planning process has been and then this happens. That's what I get for being optimistic. Ugh! Hopefully I get this other woman's information soon so I can contact her and confirm details (very specifically) so it doesn't happen again. 😩

Did you not have a contract with the location? Whatever you do, when you find a new artist, get a contract with prices, location, and times listed. Sorry you have to deal with this so close to your wedding.

Unfortunately I did not. My mistake. I definitely plan on doing one ASAP when I get a new one. Thank you.

If possible try and get a trial with the new mua so you know if you even like the way they do it

Something sort of similar happened to a friend of mine just a week before her wedding day. Her makeup artist told her she would be out of town for a “funeral” (I say “funeral” bc this chick was posting stuff to social media pages and checking in at LOCAL spots throughout the day of the my friend’s wedding- the days she was supposed to be out of state for this funeral...). The MUA put her in touch with another MUA that was available that day. The only prob was they never had a chance to do a trial of hair or makeup so the bride was a bit nervous. In the end, it all worked out- she actually loved her hair and makeup - she looked gorgeous! ...and she was also thrilled bc she had spent a lot of money on 3 trials trying to get right hair and makeup with the original MUA doing three trials. 😬

I don’t know, I think things happen for a reason. Everything will work out for you and you’ll look amazing on your big day. Deep breaths. I know it seems sucky right now, but you’ll get it al figured out in time.

I have a different person doing hair and we already did a trial so we're good there. I'm not too worried about the MUA doing a good job. I am not doing anything crazy. Lol Luckily she put me in touch with someone else that she's worked with in the past and is available. Phew! Thanks!
