Multiple Maid of Honors and bridesmaids

Rebecca, on August 26, 2019 at 12:49 PM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 12
So my fiancé and I have a pretty big family and to me EVERYONE is important. He and I both have 4 sisters. I want to have my 4 sisters as my maids of honor and his 4 sisters as bridesmaids. HOWEVER. I have 7 nieces 🤦🏻‍♀️ that are ALL close to me and I can’t imagine them not being in my wedding. 3 of them are a bit older and I was thinking of having them as junior bridesmaids and walking out with a “here she comes sign” before I walk down the isle and then they’d sit down. As for the other 4, I’m going to make them all flower girls. I knew that with my family and his family, making things traditional just wasn’t going to happen. Going back to maids of honors, how would I go about having 4 maids of honors and one best man?

Maybe you should do away with the MOH title. Just have everyone be bridesmaids.

I'm having one sister as a maid of honor and one as a matron of honor (and FSIL as a bridesmaid), but my FH will just have his dad as a best man and his FBIL as a groomsmen. Since we're having an uneven wedding party, I plan on just having my girls walk down one at a time and let the groomsmen escort our mothers/grandmothers down the aisle.

I have 8 bridesmaids not MOH and my brothers are all going on my FHs side. I have 7 siblings and a cousin and friends I wanted standing by me so we have 16 or 17 total

You're going to have 15 people on your side? How many will he have on his? This sounds like it could be very cumbersome. Have you considered having his sisters on his side as groomswomen?

That is a lot of people!! Maybe instead of having the nieces as junior bridesmaids, they could be ushers and hand out programs. I also like the suggestion of having his sisters stand as grooms women. But honestly you can do whatever you want. If you want four MOH, go for it. Not every bridal party matches. Just remember to add into your budget all the extra expenses with the bridal party, such as gifts, bouquets, etc.

My old roommate just got married in April. They had 12 people on each side, and her 3 sisters were her Maid/Matron of Honors. The groom just had one best man. There were just 2 MOHs that walked with groomsmen. She, also, had 3 ringbearers and 3 flower girls, and it worked out fine!

I have been to a wedding with multiple flower girls of varying ages. One idea could be to decorate a wagon and have one of the junior bridesmaids or an older flower girl or two pull it down to isle with the young flower girls in it. So you don't lose a little one on the way. This is what was done at the wedding and it worked beautifully. The little ones just tossed the flower petals behind the wagon as they went.
