Multiple questions

Abi, on January 6, 2020 at 4:03 PM Posted in Planning 0 6

Help! I have some questions that I hope people can help with.

1. I have a contract and have paid a deposit with a videographer, but we have only communicated through text/ email, have not met up yet or talked on the phone. They are of course legit (have a website, Facebook page, all that jazz). I am wondering if that is abnormal or should I set up a time to meet with them? My wedding is in October of this year.

2. Does my photographer reach out to me to schedule engagement photos or do I reach out to them?

Thanks in advance for your help!

    1. Do you have any further questions for your videographer? If so, you could schedule a meeting with them. Otherwise if you've already booked, I don't see the need for one unless they would be able to show you more of their past work or something.

    2. Our photographer reached out to us to schedule our engagement session, but I could see it going either way really. If you want them done by a certain date (maybe to order Save the Dates with photos), then I would just shoot them an email asking when they have openings.

    1. It’s definitely possible to not meet with your videographer but personally I’d want to meet them in person just to make sure we mesh well before the wedding day.
    2. If they haven’t reached out yet maybe just check with them and see if they’d prefer to schedule it or if they want you to suggest some dates

    1. You don't have meet them if you feel it isn't necessary. I would want to at least once before the wedding day.

    2. I reached out to mine to schedule engagement pictures. It wasn't included in our contract but she gave us a good deal on the session for paying the deposit for the actual wedding.

    1. I talked to all vendors on the phone or in person before paying them, even if it was brief.

    2. I reached out to our photographer to schedule engagement pictures.

    1. I don’t think it’s necessary. I planned from out of state and couldn’t meet with all my vendors.
    2. I would reach out to them.

I had spoken with my photographer about fall pictures in our first conversation - so I would say you need to call and set up your engagement pictures. As for the videographer, I would say at least a phone conversation just to see what they need from you ( maybe a list of shots like what the photographer would want) and to know when they plan to show up the day of - your info to them regarding your coordinator / venue contact.
