Multiple registries combined

We used theknot.com for our wedding website and both of our registries (Bed Bath and Beyond and Crate & Barrel) were combined on the registry page. I think Zola does the same thing. One of my aunts sent me an item off of one of my registries, but from a different website - no big deal, I just took the item off the registry so someone didn't duplicate!

Some online registries now let the gifter "reserve" a gift or say "I bought this somewhere else."

Zola: It doesn't look like Zola does this with an online click, but Zola customer service says the gifter can call and provide the couple information and wedding date and they'll mark the gift as purchased.

Joy: If an item is added to your registry from the "shop" portion as opposed to an external registry, it will provide the guest with an option to say "I've purchased this" and they can get it from anywhere. Otherwise, they'll have to mark it as purchased another way (I guess by letting the external registry know).

The Knot: Will open the item on the external site, but their forums say the gifter can notify the place of registry (Target, Macy's, whoever) that they bought the gift.

A few External Registries: I know for a fact that Target registries will let you mark as purchased if they bought it somewhere else, there's a little link to click on each item on the Target website! Williams-Sonoma doesn't have a button on their site for it.
