multiple types of centerpieces or uniform look?

MrsMGW, on April 6, 2010 at 8:22 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 16

Hi Everyone,

I was just wondering what everyone thought about centerpieces. I have been looking over ideas and I found a few looks that I love. The problem is, do I use more than one look. What do you all think? Uniform look? or different centerpieces?

The trend in our area the last couple years has been to use similar or matching flowers but vary the height of the centerpieces so that 1/2 the tables have pedestal type arrangements and the other half has a low arrangement. It adds interest to the room, as well as, saves $ if your venue has high ceilings and you can't afford all pedestals.

I think it also depends on the number of tables that you are going to have. We are having between 24-26 tables and we are using 3 different centerpiece styles. The only thing that will be uniform is that they will all be lit up in some way and have something blue in them.

We are planning on doing our own thing and making things different--- including the centerpieces. I don't understand who started the concept of every single thing being perfectly matched because nothing in life is really like that-- We're planning on doing a few different centerpieces (maybe 3 or 4) but they will be similar, small/simple for our 10 tables. But I don't think we are really good at following the traditional things because the BM dresses and their flowers are going to be different too. I think it is more visually appealing to do something a little unexpected.

I am using two different size pots with similar flowers in them on half of the tables and on the other half I am having pillar candles.

I'm using the same flowers but varying the heights... one is short and has a "puff ball" type thing of sunflowers and others, and the tall ones have the sunflowers and green kermits inside the tall vase... I like how it switches things up... I'm doing rectangle tables too because it's different and fits my space better... So I think that varying the heights of the centerpieces will break up the uniform direction of the rectangles...

You can have uniformity and variation as some of the previous posters suggested. For example the same color blooms but diff flowers. Candles at each table but high and low arrangements. Or one bride in a magazine did all the same flowers but went to antique shops and did a diff antique vase on each table. Have fun with it!

Keeping everything uniform is the key to making your wedding a hit. But that doesn't mean you have to do everything exactly the same. Try doing the same variation of flowers but do some tall centerpieces and some low- that is always a easy way to make things look nice.

Another thing you can do is incorporate something in multiple places like a clear vase submerged with flowers.

If you need any more advice or want to view pictures- I have tons of stuff on my website and blog.

    Hope this helps!

We are doing two very similar arrangements, only one is taller and one is shorter, because we think it will break up the eye when looking around the room- but the arragements themselves look very much alike other than that one difference

Our reception site was teh bottom floor of a bed and breakfast, so all the furniture was different, different kinds of tables, etc. The centerpieces were all orchids but we mixed & matched the pots. I think it depends on your venue and what would look good with it.

I just saw a rehersal video @ the Photog yesterday and they had different centerpieces on each table, with a similar color in each, It looked Suprisingly Wonderful! I am a visual person so to see it first made it easier to take it in looking good vs. hearing it and thinking that no way would that look good. Smiley smile Honestly, i never even thought of it.

We are having a barn wedding and it has been very hard to find 15 to 20 identical pieces. So I recently decided to go anything rustic. They will all be candle lite due to the fact that it is an evening wedding but I can tell you one centerpiece cost about 30 dollars, but going this way I did two for the price of one.
