Multiple wedding bands.

Ely, on August 20, 2015 at 9:32 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 18

What's the point of them? I have seen lots of women wear them and though they are cute I don't really get it. Did I miss the memo? I do however think I want to place one on top and one on bottom of the my engagement ring. Because of how the diamonds are placed I feel like it would annoy me to only have one. Is anyone buying more than one band? Pic in comments.

I think second bands are often bought for milestone anniversaries. There are certain wedding bands that surround the ring without two bands.

I think some women do multiple wedding bands for the symmetry. I personally only have one band, but I might ask dh to get me another band in the future as an anniversary gift.

FH and I both like the look of my ring with the band on each side, however we have decided that for the time being I'm just wearing my e-ring with the band that came with it. FH has pitched the idea of doing an intimate vow renewal (think the 3 of us and maybe 2-8 friends on our annual camping trip) for our first wedding anniversary or our 5th wedding anniversary, and getting the 2nd band to place on it for that. The only reason he's considering going this route is that A) we get a free vow renewal between 1 and 5 years from our officiant and B) our small intimate wedding got blown into this huge thing. We'd just be looking at renewing our vows in front of our best friends while we're out on our camping trip. Nothing too fancy.

Some people just like the look of them. some bands, like @MrsSantamaria2015's, are made to "wrap"... there are so many reasons. and most are just personal preference.

what my view on multiple bands are... is that you get them for milestones like children or anniversaries. my wedding band is very simple. just a plain white gold band. i mentioned to DH though, that for an anniversary gift down the road, i wouldn't mind an eternity band. Smiley smile

To have more diamonds...what more reason do you need? Haha, kidding. But... I do think some people wear them just to have more diamonds. I think often times they are anniversary bands, I know my friend's husband gave her a second band on their 10th Christmas together. Sometimes they are also "push presents" when they have a first baby, etc.

Stacking rings has been around for a long time, but as Elizabeth said, it's historically been adding them for milestone anniversaries, birth of children, etc.

It's become increasingly popular to wear multiple rings from a fashion standpoint in the last decade, it seems - and that's mostly what i attribute the current trend to adding eternity bands on either side of an e-ring, or to picking an engagement ring that comes with two bands, like MrsSantamaria's above.

(I personally suspect this is becoming more popular also with the secularization of weddings in general, so the engagement ring is becoming more important than the wedding band... maybe that's cynical, but I really feel that way.)

I think I would like to have a second band my E-ring and just one band feels funny but we will see once I start to wear them together for a longer period of time.

I like the idea of getting the second band for the first anniversary or the first child. I agree with wanting symmetry but to me that's not enough to justify another expensive band. My band is the matching one to my e-ring, though not an enhancer

I'd love a second band for the other side of my e-ring for some symmetry...and I don't think more diamonds are ever a bad idea, lol! I've definitely thrown the idea out there about how pretty I think it would look with my e-ring, and my mom seems to think it might be a little surprise at the altar. Here's hoping Smiley smile

I am getting two for the wedding day! FH isn't super stoked about it but I'm a gaudy jewlery type person and Iwant it to be symmetrical!

Stacked rings make sense. But both FH's side and mine have women who actually have different e-rings or bands that they wear at different times. ridiculous.

BUT, I will have two bands. One that matches my e-ring I will wear when I'm out and then a plain gold band I will wear at home so I'm not knocking it around or even loose it by taking the "diamond set" off to do things.
