Multiple Wedding Favors

Samantha, on October 21, 2017 at 3:08 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 18

We have so many great ideas and favorites for wedding favors and we don't really want to choose just one. They are all related (nature theme since it is at an arboretum) and was wondering if having a mix is a bad idea. We have two separate rooms for our reception (one is a lounge and the other is for the rest of the festivities) and would probably put them in the lounge area. We also thought we could put one at each place setting and the table can trade if they wish to have what someone else wants. Has anyone done multiple favors before or went to a wedding that did this? Thoughts, ideas, advise...

Favors are a waste of money. Save the money and upgrade something else.

What are the favors? Personally, I never take favors at a wedding. Unless it's food and I can eat it. I'd say skip em!

Unless it was something really, nice. I probably wouldn't take it. I absolutely do not care for koozies, candles or other random Knick-knacks with other people's names on it.

Just a heads-up, a lot of responses might not actually answer your question, well intended responses just sharing the consensus that favours are antiquated and you can go without.

I went to one that gave an edible and a stack of playing cards, both were left on each table. I don't think it was one per setting and it worked out since most if not all ultimately were taken. I liked the idea of variety. You really gotta know your crowd on this one. If you're unsure then best bet is just edible.

My fiance likes an idea I found on Etsy, chopsticks. This fits since he's Chinese/ Vietnamese. We know that these will be popular with our crowd. I am now making origami sleeves for them using Chinese patterns.

I personally loved the idea of chocolate covered strawberries and was thinking of incorporating that, as well. Not sure how I want to go about ordering both number wise. Anyway, what were the options you were considering?

I think it's best to pick one favor everyone gets or give each guest multiple favors. That way no one ends up wanting something someone else got & they didn't. Make sure that you've considered every expense involved with your wedding before splurging on favors. We forgot to budget for alterations & tailoring & they weren't cheap!

Again, I think everyone is well intended but I've seen posters get frustrated with advice that seems out of the realm of the question.

Here's the link to the chopsticks he and I were considering. Smiley smile

Mrs. Sitzman, it's definitely a damned if you do, damned if you don't lol. We might end up short because he and I both have family members who just help themselves to many instead of the allotted one per guest or family.

Whoops well I didn't mean to get off topic I was just offering honest advice on favors! We got a photo booth, not individual favors.

As far as mixed, I think the biggest problem would be running out, so my advice would be get enough of each for at least 75% of the wedding, if not enough of each for everyone... Like, if they are really cool guests might want both and would be bummed if you ran out!

I realize favors are falling out of favor (lol) but still want to do one, so we’re choosing something we won’t mind keeping if they’re all left behind.

We were thinking bookmarks that are a laminated postage stamps that are all nature themed (see photo) and Swedish dishcloths that are organic and compostable also with nature themed (see photo) and something else just because. We have a library at home and everyone knows we are huge readers. They also know we are very nature-minded and plant natives and compost and the like.

We definitely want to do favors since it is a sign of our appreciation to them and who doesn't love presents (if they are appropriate). Plus this is one of the big things that I have always looked forward to planning my wedding as crazy as it sounds, lol.

We are not all that infused with the edible favors because the ones that we wouldn't mind extras of do not really appeal to about half of the crowd. We wanted them to be useful which is why we were thinking of a couple options that way people could choose what is best suited to them.

And we would definitely purchase enough for everyone. Running out is NOT an option! The arboretum we are at has these in their store so returns would not be an issue either - just in case there was a huge surplus of whatever. We would undoubtedly keep the extra dishcloths though because those things are AMAZING!!

She asked for thoughts, ideas, and advice. It isn't getting off topic; it's giving advice.

Don't do favors. It is a complete waste. Honestly unless it's a bottle of alcohol, i'm good. I don't need hot chocolate packets, tea or anything else.

Both ideas are cute, I'm definitely MORE inclined to take favors when there isn't stuff about the wedding on them lol.

If you're getting enough for everyone I'd say just mix them in the presentation so people don't miss one or the other!

People are really critical of favours on this site. I’ll happily take any freebies! And Samantha your Swedish dishcloths are super cute, I’d love one of those.

..."favors since it is a sign of our appreciation to them"...

A ridiculous amount of food, 5 hours of top-shelf open bar, 5 star service, table décor and décor rental items, entertainment by a 12 piece band = $250 per guest.

Tell me why I need to spend a couple of bucks, for an item the average guest doesn't want, won't take, and won't use if taken?

I see your idea get a bunch of favor options and hopefully one appeals to each guests. It sounds sweet and something I always thought about doing. But then I really thought it and truthfully, it could be a huge waste of money. Not trying to be rude, just trying to be blunt. I dont recall/have any favors from any wedding I have gone to. Either they were edible and delicious and I ate them or I didnt notice them, forgot it or Im not sure. If drinks are flowing and people are having a good time the last thing on their mind is to remember to take/pick a favor. If it is edible, they are more willing to take it because sober or not who doesnt want a snack!
