Music during the ceremony??

Emily, on March 22, 2021 at 6:26 PM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 8
I honestly haven’t been to very many weddings, so I really don’t know what the “norm” is. My officiant asked what songs we will be playing so I sent him the list, bridal party entrance, my entrance and the exit song. He then asked what about any songs during the actual ceremony. Am I supposed to be playing more music during the ceremony?? I was just thinking for the ceremony, after I walk down the aisle, he will say his stuff, we do our unity then our vows and that’s it. Am I missing anything??

I think it depends on the type of ceremony you are having. We are getting married in a Catholic church so there is a specific selection of songs. I have been to ceremonies that are at the reception venue and not in a place of worship. There is usually low playing music in the beginning of the ceremony prior to the bridesmaid entrance while guests are being seated and waiting for the ceremony to begin. But after that, I think you got it, bridesmaids, bride then exit.

We had a soloist sing Someone to Watch Over Me . And after we exchanged rings and kisses, she sang Let it Be Me, the arrangement Roberta Flack did on Chapter 2. Accompanied by Piano.

In addition to what others have mentioned, some couples play music if/when they do a unity ceremony.

We’re not playing anything during the actual ceremony. Just before & after but not during.

Are you marrying in a house of worship or a nonreligious ceremony? A religious ceremony requires you pick from preselected hymns and worship songs. They do not allow anything secular that would not be included in a worship seevice. If you are having a nonreligious ceremony, you can pick anything.

Typically there is 30 minutes of music played while guests arrive and are seated, which includes your bridesmaid entrance.

Only VERY strict religious ceremonies/denominations restrict music. I am a Christian from non-denom/evangelical background and the church we are getting married in has no musical restrictions and we are using starwars/lord of the rings/skyrim and other nerdy gaming songs in our music , they have no problems with my music selection

I'm thinking of an instrumental version of a well know song, like All You Need is Love, by the Beatles

Theres usually music playing as everyone walks down the aisle. It doesnt have to be a song with words, can just be an instrumental song
