Music!

Ceelie , on July 10, 2019 at 3:08 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 11

What types of songs are you guys playing at your wedding and reception? I just finished putting together our playlist and it's gonna be all the timeless hits (Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Queen, Neil Young) and I'm so excited! I've been jamming out at work with my earbuds in all morning lol.

We're doing similar music to that. Classic rock, some Country, and some Pop here and there probably.

YES!! Love it! We will be doing the same. We don’t listen to the radio much and don’t really know what today’s hits are. Our DJ has an online portal where we can put the songs we want to hear and don’t want to hear. Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, and Queen are my top three favorite bands. Country music will be on the do not play list.

We are trying to add several artists that we've attended concerts of.
    ROB zombie
    Marilyn Manson
    Lady Gaga
    KESHA
    Carly Rae Jepsen
    Snoop Dogg
    Weezer
Some are super easy, others not so much. Lol.

Ours was interesting. Some folksy stuff, classic rock, Ukrainian music, and a few other oddballs thrown in lol.

Wow that is different! Probably added a special touch with your personalities though so that’s pretty cool

Some country for line dancing mostly pop dance tunes whatever people put for their song requests on the RSVPs (within reason - if I don't like it I am not putting it on the list lol). I told FH we should have some cool rock/alternative and be way cooler than our friends who just had a day to remember and thought they were soooo cool for it. We have shinedown, we wanna do my chemical romance haha some of the classics like don't stop believin, i don't wanna lose your love tonight, etc.

Ours is going to be a lot of pop stuff. Mix of 80’s music, some fairly current dance songs, and a bit of boybands for me lol

Ours is truly a mix! We've got a lot of classics from rock, pop, R&B, 70s/80s/90s/today, rat pack, etc. and I'm honestly super excited. I made a playlist yesterday that ended up being about 3.5 hours long, and our DJ is going to use that as a starting point Smiley smile

I've been doing the same thing! We're still discussing most of the specific songs but we are determined not to include tropes like Single Ladies and cringy songs like Blurred Lines. We love Queen and will probably add My Best Friend, and I think my son wants Magic Dance as our mother/son dance. lol But mostly we plan to start with upbeat classic music we listened to growing up with some slow songs peppered in and bring it into the 2000's when everyone is feeling that dance energy (mostly from the beer and wine). Personally my favorite thing has been finding female covers of love songs for the "cocktail hour" playlist and a few for the reception itself, perfect for two brides!
