My Cheating Calligraphy

Thanks to Rachel showing me the thread that Labake posted (https://www.weddingwire.com/wedding-forums/im-feeling-devious-found-happy-medium-between-calligraphy-and-the-printer/44a4dd5a3e92bb7d.html) about using your printer to help with calligraphy, I gave it a go. I wanted something more personal than just printing on the envelopes, and definitely didn't want to use labels. While I have "neat" handwriting, I don't have "fancy" handwriting so I decided this would be great to try out.

My envelopes are light blue (although they often don't look that way in the photos) and I printed very lightly on them with a color very close to the envelope color. Then I went over all of the words with a gold metallic gelly roll pen (love!). I am very pleased with how they came out. So far I have done all of my rsvp envelopes and my inside envelopes (50 each). I'm still waiting on my outside envelopes to arrive (I ordered them late as I wasn't planning on doing inside/outside) so that I can do them

I want to get them out no later than March 1st. My outer envelopes will arrive on Monday so I'll have time next week to get them all addressed and put together and still get them out before my deadline.

I'm asking for my RSVPs back by April 7th, 4 weeks out from the wedding.

I saw the other post for this, and figured I would do it on my actual invites. I'm really excited to do it too.

For my STD's I just printed addresses right onto the envelope.

Yea for my save the dates, I just wrote out with my regular ol handwriting (which was probably easier than fighting with my printer knowing what I know now lol).

I wanted something nice and fancy for my invitations because I worked so hard on making them nice and this definitely fit the bill Smiley smile

I am happy to report that the light box method from the other post was a HUGE success. I bought 3 packages of flameless tealights 40% off at michaels, and it's a good thing b/c an entire package were duds. Needless to say I'm returning those but still. Clustered the other 2 packages worth of tealights together under an upside down pyrex and voila! Light box. Just in case there are brides who want to trace the outline from another sheet of paper instead of printing directly onto the envelopes.

Unfortunately....the pens I bought aren't working for me. So I'll have to try again tomorrow.

    Go girls!

That's great Kris, minus the pens not working! Definitely post photos when you are done a couple!

What type of pens are you going to use?

So the trick is to use very ligth colored printer ink? I'm not sure how to do that. Also, where is a good place to get wedding envelopes?
