My hall doubled booked - omg

Chelsea, on June 29, 2021 at 12:40 PM Posted in Planning 0 10

Ready to flip out on the hall. My wedding is in 10 days!!!

I am getting married at a big theater thats for Broadway shows. I booked Oct 2019. On fb this morning my mom sends me a screen shot of a outdoor vendor fair infront of my hall! cool right? K sent the photo to my planner and she goes yeah the hall told me yesterday.

K when were anyone going to tell me!

My ceremony is in the main lobby at 4! This event if 8-5!

I paid extra to get married infront of these big beautiful windows in the lobby that look out the yard and now its a fair!!!!!!!!!!!!

The event says live music... cool will I here it during my ceremony?

ONE SET OF BATHROOMS in the LOBBY! I was charged a covid cleaning fee. Are they going to be recleaned before my guest! ALSO are people going to come in to use the bathrooms during my ceremony?!

I paid $200 for one guard for the day! They have 2 sets of large doors!!!

My first look is at 2. Were planning to do that outside in front of the hall. Than family and bridal photos before the ceremony. WHERE AM I GOING TO DO THAT!

I just sent a big text to my hall person and it a nicely neat order. Waiting to hear. Like how would this make you feel 10 DAYS OUT!!!!!

At work and cant even focus! needing some wine!

Wow that seems really wrong. Did they no longer have your event on their books? I'm so sorry. . .try to keep an open mind and let you wedding coordinator handle it. . .they don't have the emotions about it like you do

That is super wrong and unprofessional of them. I'd definitely contact them and tell them how you are very displeased. Not only can this affect your wedding ceremony but you are paying for the the service of cleaning the bathrooms both your guests and people at this other event will be using. It sounds like they either didn't put your event down in the books or they just think they can pull a fast one on you to double their profits.

Awww Chelsea! I completely understand. I would be too upset. However, on the bright side (if this had to happen), I'm glad you found out now rather than the day of your wedding. This gives you and your planner a few days to work with the hall to make things right , and the hall should be flipping over themselves to do so. That was just wrong all the way around. Praying it all works out.

Deep breaths, happy thoughts! Have you called the venue and expressed your issues with their unprofessional double booking? Have they fixed the issue??

    Hi there,

Wow.... I am SO sorry this happened to you. I couldn't even imagine how upsetting this must make you feel... I think this is so incredibly wrong of this venue... I'm hoping they will at least refund you the extra money you paid to get married in front of the windows... Deep breaths! You may not want to hear this but I'm trying to be optomistic for you so here it goes- look at it this way, at least the fair event is only until 5. Yes, it is unfortunate that your ceremony is at 4. Maybe you could make sure there is NO live music during ceremony time? It could be so much worse- the fair could be going on all night.

    Goodluck to you

I am so sorry. I'm not sure if there is legal footing, depending on what your contract says, but if there is any sort of mention of you having exclusive use of bathrooms, the building, etc I think you could definitely sue.

I would contact them and let them know you feel blindsided by this. I would also contact a lawyer.

Oh this is SO wrong! What is your planner doing to work all this out and why did she wait to tell you knowing you're close to wedding day? The Hall had to give approval to use the space for the fair, why wasn't this discussed with you and your planner as far as logistics and your timeline/goal of the space that you'll be using and how a fair would effect that? Definitely not cool; and an explanation is needed as well as some money refunded to you. You'll ultimately have random people at your wedding. Forget a text message, my husband would have been down at that hall waiting for the rep to get there to have a face to face conversation about this. Wishing you the best of luck with this and I hope that it gets resolved in your favor cause this is just wrong on so many levels.
