“my honey cooks” giveaway

Ashley, on September 2, 2018 at 10:32 PM Posted in Florida Planning 0 8
Received a message today that I won a 4 day 3 night trip from a raffle at the SoFlo bridal expo. Read a lot of post about what to expect and I know it’s to see their stuff but never saw this company mentioned. Anyone have info?

Hi Ashley! Did you already attend a SoFlo bridal expo? Or just entered in a drawing and got chosen?

Their next expo be on April 26-28th at the Miami Airport convention center, as seen on their website. Expos are a great way to meet and connect with services and vendors that you might be interested in for your wedding day. At the bottom, they showcase all of the vendors who will be present, as well as teachers who will be doing workshops throughout those days. It's common for them to do raffles and drawings to interact with their guests, like with your 4 day, 3 night trip.

I’ve been to 3 this year and I received several messages about winning a getaway or short honeymoon from this one company but I had to go in person to fill out paperwork with one days notice or the same day. I ended up not going because I was afraid it would be like those timeshare gimmicks or something like that. So I didn’t get the getaway.

My fiance' and I received a similar text after I attended the NC bridal expo. We actually just went to the presentation last night. Did not purchase anything but left with the vacation package out of the country for 4 days 3 nights, champagne flutes, $600 towards wedding bands and more.

Yes, it was Bridal Registry, as well as My Honey Cooks. Then today I received a text from another company. From my understanding you can only choose one offer; and if you refer 5 couples who are engaged or newly married you receive more gifts.

Hi! I got a similar text from NCA group after the Bridal Show in Tampa in January 2018. My fiance and I ended up going to the event (for My Honey Cooks) and sat through the 2 hour presentation. Throughout the presentation, Darren (the owner of My Honey Cooks) had gotten news that his father was in the hospital. Then at the end when we decided to not buy the cookware, he made a nasty comment to my fiance about cooking my food with crap. We were furious when we left. He sent an email right after apologizing for his behavior and saying he was emotional after hearing about his father. Whether or not he was telling the truth about his father, that doesn't forgive his behavior. Plus, one of the other couples was bad mouthing another companies cookware after the presentation which made us think they might have been plants.

For any future couples, I highly recommend skipping this presentation.

It's not a scam in the sense that you don't actually have to buy anything to get the "prizes." But the price of the pots, pans and cutlery are severely inflated. First, the "$100 free knife" prize currently retails at $30. https://www.heritagesteel.us/shop/cutlery/5-5-santoku-knife.html

If you decided to go to a show go ahead and bookmark that website so you can price compare all the "mark downs" they provide (up to 300% markup with the special bridal expo discount).

They also employ scare tactics, implying that Teflon burn off kills birds, which have small lungs, and therefore could kill your infant child... because you know their lungs are also small. They printed the first page (and only the first page) of an article from the American Cancer Society which talks about Teflon and potentially dangerous byproducts that are produced during the manufacturing of Teflon. They conveniently left out this part of the article: "Other than the possible risk of flu-like symptoms from breathing in fumes from an overheated Teflon-coated pan, there are no known risks to humans from using Teflon-coated cookware. While PFOA is used in making Teflon, it is not present (or is present in extremely small amounts) in Teflon-coated products." https://www.cancer.org/cancer/cancer-causes/teflon-and-perfluorooctanoic-acid-pfoa.html

They have the first page from the American Cancer Society and the second page, which looks like it's part of the same article, from a completely different website which states something different than the quote above.

Overall the product they are selling appears to be of high quality but not worth the price tag they're selling it for.

As for the vacation, I did receive the voucher. The speaker was upfront about stating all travel to and from the resort as well as taxes associated with resort must be paid by the recipient. You also have to send in $50 to activate said voucher. I will not be pursuing the trip as I'm sure there's something hidden in the fine print to make it not worth it.

There is no time-share presentation required to take the vacation. I hope you will take advantage of this promotional gift that we give away. The cookware that you saw on that website is manufactured by the same factory as ours. Please understand, they manufacture cookware for companies all over the country. However, our cookware is manufactured for us. There is a difference in the way that it is made (our pans are thicker) and how you cook in it. There is also a huge difference in the warranty. We offer a double lifetime warranty on our cookware. Our waterless cookware is not sold in the retail market. As for the cutlery, their website does occasionally have promotions on it for their customers. I think they occasionally have the 5.5" santoku knife that we give away on sale. However, it does retail for $99. Also, this is a knife that we give away for free. Free is always less than any sale they have. It's our way of saying thank you to people for coming out and seeing us. We also offer discount codes for our customers forever.
