So, I have anxiety and can be awkward sometimes. As a result, when I first got engaged and got my ring back from the jewelers, when people would congratulate me or bring up the engagement, I didn't often show off my ring even though I love it! I just get too shy and awkward lol. Unless people specifically asked to see it, I never offered to show it.
I knew here would be the perfect place to show it off with other people getting married who are excited and enjoy sharing! At one point there was a perfect thread for me to show it off with this story but I couldn't find the related image and now that I finally found the photo again I cannot find that thread lol! The thread was about negative reactions to your rings. 😔😞
The story I wanted to share was that, despite my awkwardness, I was very excited the day I got my ring back from the jewelers and I actually showed it off a little. I shared 2 pictures and said I was happy it was back from the jewelers on FB. Then, 2 days later I'm scrolling and saw my cousins girlfriend had shared a status the day before (so, the VERY NEXT DAY after I showed my ring) which I have included.
I know it probably sounds stupid and people may be thinking "that might not even be about/related to you" but the coincidental timing was suspicious to me. Even if it wasn't about me, it still felt like a mildly rude thing to post after seeing my ring, the exact style she's born insulting and insinuating is only wanted by ladies who are gold diggers, apparently (🙄😒)
Again, probably seems stupid, but at the time it really upset me and made me angry because of the insinuation it held. It was like she was insulting my character as a person! Not that she knew this (or that it matters because it doesn't, people can spend their money how they like!) But the ring is a family heirloom, the only thing we paid for was a new setting. I just don't care for the solitaire look, personally. I can find them beautiful but they aren't my probabl preference. It has nothing to do with cost. Also, it was a bit funny because my best friend pointed out that the ring in the shared photo was a HONKING diamond if real and good cut/quality and could easily cost way more than a "bulky" setting like mine.
Anyway, that's my little vent! And my little show off of my ring, because I really do love it! I picked the band myself after he proposed so it was perfect! He got to totally surprise me, it has a family history, and I got to customize it. It couldn't be more perfect for me and I love it so, so much!
Share your story and/or rings! 😊
