My sister is trying to steal my spotlight, I'm super hurt.

So my sister just announced she is getting married.... the next day after my wedding. Am I wrong to not participate?

This is so awkward for you and the family... as a guest if i received two save dates from sisters a day apart I would be wondering whats going on there..

I get that you only get one day...but the day after? I'd be hella pissed, too.

I am usually in the "you get one day" camp as well, but the very next day does seem a little rude. Especially depending on how long you've been planning versus how long she's been planning. If she doesn't have deposits down or anything set in stone yet, I would talk to her about how this may affect the guests that you would have in common.

Hey at least you have the first wedding so everyone will party at yours and be hungover and not stay long at hers. Lol.

This is shitty though, and there's definitely something else going on here. No normal person would do that. Heck, one of my BM's is getting married 9/9, and our venue had 7/1 & 8/25 open, and I still asked her which she would prefer due to the closeness of the dates.

We had a conversation yesterday, she said " if they don't want to come to mine it'll be ok" ....well to be honest I don't care. I'm the sweetest of the 5 girls and normally I'd change to accommodate but Not This Time! I've been planning too long for this day.

If it was anyone else I would say let it go, but being your sister I think its fucked up.

Hopefully your wedding is more local and they will opt to attend yours instead. I wouldn't be waking up at 5-6 to go to a wedding 3 hours a way and I'd be annoyed to have to rent a room for an early morning wedding.

Wrong on so many levels, this is definitely an exception to the "you get one day" I mean come on, the next damn day??? Not cool.

Also- Can she plan a wedding in 5 months? Did she find a venue that was available that date? Or is it just a want date?

Maybe she did it on purpose so that people would send gifts instead of actually coming to her wedding and needing to be fed?

ETA: she JUST started planning? Oh I totally call gift grab.

Have your parent's said anything about this? Having two weddings literally back to back is going to be hell for them. Is she cool with her parents not showing up?

I would honestly be annoyed too. And you will be so tired- all of your family and friends will! After a 7pm wedding and then into an 11 am wedding???? It's terrible planning on her part and quite frankly very unrealistic.

She's probably not not going to find much in terms of vendors if she just started planning. Im willing to bet money she'll be pushing that date back.

Usually I believe you get one day BUT the same weekend, 3 hours away, and an 11am start, hell no! That's not fair to those attending your wedding. If I were a guest, chance are I'd end up skipping hers. There's no way I would stay up late one night then get up early to drive 3hrs to her 11am wedding. No fucking way. That means guests that attended your wedding would have to get up around 6am to get ready and then drive 3 hra. Fuck no!

She said 7pm. Honestly I'd be irritated. If my wedding was the day before, what happens if you'd planned on jumping on a plane directly to your honeymoon? Does that mean she doesn't care if you even attended? Does she not want your help planning anything? Because you'll be busy with your own thing since it's so close!
