My sister is trying to steal my spotlight, I'm super hurt.

So my sister just announced she is getting married.... the next day after my wedding. Am I wrong to not participate?

Your family will likely be too hungover from your wedding to make it to hers. Problem solved. (Fellow New Orleans bride, so I sure do know that audience) (I went to a Mardi Gras ball tonight, and I even want to drive to Baton Rouge tomorrow, let alone Mississippi)

Yes, you only get one day--but i know that as the bride, I will have **** things to do the day before my wedding. For her, that means your actual wedding day--and thus she most likely won't come to your wedding.

For you, the day after your wedding you will be exhausted, sore, and possiblt hungover. If you managed to drag yourself to her wedding, half the crowd would be saying "hey, what are you doing here, didn't you just get married?"

I don't understand the idea of sending gifts if you couldn't come. If i were invited to both your weddings, I would go to yours, skip hers, and send nothing.

Do you think she wanted to do a double wedding but didn't know how to ask? But like many have commented there is an underline issue here.

I know I would not want to get out of bed, do the hair, makeup, dress thing all over again. Exhausting. It is rude and wrong of your sister.

Honestly, she'll look like a tool, not you. There's an underlying issue that you should get to the bottom of.

Wow that's pretty bizarre. Y'all should definitely talk and see what we're her intentions behind picking her date. Maybe she was trying to share a moment with you or something. Who knows. But y'all should talk it out. Yours is definite is hers?

I'd be pissed if my sister did that. Though with her being a half sister how many guests are attending yours that are also attending hers? If she were a full sister I could see it being really rough since you are probably inviting the same people, but for a half sister, it may not be THAT bad. I'd still be annoyed though. My FSIL is getting married in April 2017, and my wedding is in August 2017. I still checked with her prior to just to make sure she'd be okay with them so close together as not to steal her thunder. And that's 4 MONTHS lol. I feel like common courtesy would atleast have her not want her wedding the day after yours

Non of my sisters would choose a wedding date the same day. Me and my best friend wanted the same day. Neither venue had it available But we talked it out and ended up a months apart. I couldn't imagine not being all in for her and vice versa.

Look at this way... everyone will party for your wedding and be hungover for hers. Everyone gets their day.

I'm sorry that's frustrating :/ my sister got engaged shortly after me, but thankfully she was reasonable- she said her wedding will be 2018 since I got engaged first and that I chose 2017.

Maybe it would be best if you and your mother talk to her.

Not for nothing many people have a post wedding brunch to see guest off and say thank you. Back to back weddings ummmm have a conversation with her.

Yeahhhhhhh, not gonna lie, I'd be pissed. Don't a lot of couples leave for a honeymoon the next day? I mean not all of them do, but some do I'd imagine. What if you were one of the ones that wanted to? I feel like it might suck for her a bit more than for you, the guests would probably go to yours and then be too exhausted to go to hers. Pretty dumb of her if you ask me.
