My venue gone

LAQUITA , on June 30, 2019 at 11:12 AM Posted in Planning 0 28
My heart was set and now broken. The venue I wanted has changed its payment policy and now I have to look for something else. I'm 11 months out from my wedding now I have to start the venue Hunt all over. Really want to cry but I will figure it out.. What should I do and how should I handle this.

I'm so sorry you have to go through this. Did you already have a contract and give a deposit? What was the change?

We were emailed everything we needed and I sent it back. It was a payment plan option. Now they are saying it has to be done all at once.

That's weird. I feel like there should be a payment plan option. The point of the wedding venue is to accommodate the wedding. They should be helping you!

I would just try and talk with them. My venues policy was 500 deposit and then half of remaining balance 2 weeks after deposit and then remaining 50% 30 days prior to event. Unfortunately that didn't work for us and I explained with my venue and they have been great. She let us do a larger deposit (1000 instead of 500) and then the remainder after the holidays (we booked in November we paid remainder of 1st portion in January) and then we paid an additional 600 to show good faith for working with us in April and now we are on our last 600 paying next month to have it paid off before the date she requested, I think we showed good faith and we were trying to make it work. Sit with them explain situations and see if you guys can work up a unique plan that works for everyone?

I told them the situation and they said they would work with us. This last week we got an email saying that they could not work with us on a payment plan

Wow that really sucks! I'm so sorry you have to deal with that! I highly recommend laying out whats important for you in a venue and start searching again and have this be one of the first questions you ask potential venues and as soon as they agree get that deposit and sign a contract to lock it in!

If you were given the quote in writing, it's a lawsuit. Otherwise, you have to take a deep breath and look again. What can go wrong, will. Always have a contingency plan and a contingency plan to that contingency plan.

You can sue then, actually. I'd inform them of your written quote, the discussions of payment options, and bring it to their attention you will get a lawyer.

Sorry to hear but I would suggest to meet with them in person and speak to Manager or owner. Also, go prepared with any documentation etc you have.

    All the best!

My wedding venue literally burnt down a month ago and my wedding was supposed to be December 14th! I was heartbroken and cried and was so upset. But you do what you gotta do and start looking again. Now we will be having a beautiful wedding closer to home on December 13th!

Do you have wedding insurance? If so that should help you get the deposit and any other money you put into the venue back. I am so sorry this happened to you but at least you have enough time to find another place. Sometimes God closes a window and sopens a door elsewhere for the better. Good luck sweety

I feel for your situation. We had a venue paid for 100%. The Owner died a few months later. 6 months before the wedding no less. I did another google search for venues around me and I actually found a new venue that was opening in a couple months. talk about luck. however, it is another 7000.00 out of pocket. we entertained a local park for the ceremony and the local town hall for the reception as a last resort. I wish you luck...the right place will open for you. I would also suggest printing your emails and meeting them in person. Many times they change their minds as they dont want the bad review or lawyers involved. Good luck!

Contact other venues you liked and explain your situation. My MOH is getting married a month after me and had this happen only a few months ago. She had to re-plan her whole wedding with much less than a year to go! It sucks that this happened to you but honestly, a lot of places will be willing to give you discounts or even freebies if you just explain that your venue did what it did, and now you have a homeless wedding. Good luck! It sounds like you dodged a bullet with that one!
