My venue will not respond.

Cheyenne, on February 8, 2019 at 11:39 AM Posted in Community Conversations 0 11
My wedding is in July and he proposed in November 2018 so everything has been pushed and rushed. Well the first thing I jumped on is finding a venue. I did loads of online browsing and about three tours. The first venue we toured, we loved. We drew up a contract, signed and made the deposit. They messaged me saying they received the payment and securing my date. How ever I have been trying to contact my venue and they will not respond. It’s an hour away so going up there isn’t an option. I have multiple questions that I didn’t think about asking when we were there. All the questions can for the most part be worked around but I’m not sure what to do. I need advice and suggestions please

How have you tried to reach them? Have you called or just emailed?

Yeah, try different methods. Text, email, call, comment on social media pages. How long have you been trying though? I usually give about a week before trying again though.

How many times & how long has it been since they responded? Do they do weddings year round? Calling is always the most efficient way to get in contact.

Try all communication methods: call, text, email. If they still don't respond, give them a final notice that this will be the last time you try to contact them and will be cancelling your contract if they do not get back to you. How long has it been since you tried to reach them?

I haven’t needed to contact the venue we’re going with so I don’t know how they’ll respond if I do, but the contract makes it clear that they finalize details like table arrangements about 2 months out. Check what your contract says about what contact they’ll have with you and when to make sure it’s within the guidelines. If it’s information you really need now then of course keep pushing.

I do not have a number for them. I have emailed, Facebook messaged, messaged on here. The last conversation we had was around Jan 20. I sent them a message on here about two weeks ago and didn’t get anything so I tried email on Thursday last week and then fb message on Sunday. I got a respond to my original message saying I had come up with a list of questions and they said to feel free to ask away and they’d respond as soon as they can but I sent my list of questions and have not had a response.. I cannot go any further in my planning if I don’t get some of my questions answered.

I don't want to sound sarcastic, because it sounds like you've tried to get in touch, and they aren't being very responsive. But they are a business, and as such, must have a business telephone number.

Even if you have to google them, or get out your yellow pages (I know, old school), that's what you might need to do.

Even though my venue is open for business every day, the coordinator for weddings is only there about 4 days a week, and her schedule rotates, so different days off every month. When I email her, I know it could be 3 or 4 days before she responds, simply because she isn't there every single day. And when she is there, she's often busy with events, and isn't just sitting at her desk ignoring emails.

So, when I really need a question answered more urgently, I call.

Its an hour away. That isn't that far. I would take a drive out there. My venue is 3 hours away and since I booked my venue in June, I visit her and go over things all the time.

As a business they are required to have some kind of business phone number. Get on Google and find one. That's absolutely important. If they continue to avoid your phone calls, drive the hour to meet them face to face. An hour is honestly not that far away - especially when they are playing with your money and your event. Is it convenient? Absolutely not. But neither is dodging you. So make it inconvenient for them and show up in person.
