My wedding Dress doesn't Fit! Help!!!

BP&ZXT, on May 27, 2009 at 7:19 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 14

Okay, so I went in for my second fitting today (exactly one month away from my wedding) and the dress still doesnt fit! My first fitting was in April and it was way too small - I knew I had gained some weight but figured it wasn't much and I could lose it by now. They let out the back and I went back in to try it on thinking my exercising and limiting of snacks would've worked by now, but no luck. Even after the alterations the dress is still too small!!! My mother paid for the dress and since it was ordered, there is no refunds or exchanges. It'd break my mom's heart if I choose to buy a new dress now but I don't know how to fit into my dress anymore. The zipper goes up but with much effort, my back looks horrible and I don't think I'll enjoy my wedding and reception feeling like I can't breath...

(sigh)

Any thoughts would help...

Smiley sad

Cut out your carbs! eat lots of protine, egg whites for breakfast, go for runs everyday. it maybe hard, but im sure if you really try you can drop a few pounds to fit into the dress...

if you can run in the morning, and eat half of what ur eating now, soon enough your stomach will shrink and half will make you full :]

    good luck!!

Sparkpeople.com I SWEAR by it!!! (and it's free!) I lost 20lbs in 2 months! (from 150 to 130 5'7") My mother has so far lost 40 lbs, and a co-worker I turned onto it has lost 15. All I did was start running a mile every day (jogging really, 10min mile) and counted my calories w/ the nutrition tracker and stayed on the low side of the limit sparkpeople gave me. It REALLY helped! I hope this might help you!Good luck!

You could try Alli. It cuts out 25% of the fat in what you are eating. I will warn you FOLLOWING THE RULES WITH IT! It really helps you drop some weight but you have to eat the right stuff also with it. Also depending on the style of dress is there anyway your seamstress could make it into a tie back? That way you could just lace up the back of the dress.

    DEFINITLY try P90X!!!!!!!!

I lost a lot of weight (at least 10 lbs) in less than 2 months and my body fat % dropped almost 10% as well. It was not my intension to loose ANY weight I just wanted to get tone and my fiancé wanted me to do this program with him. It took me months to gain the weight back, (I’m small and didn’t want to loose anymore weight). But I recommend it to anyone who is trying to loose weight in a short amount of time. It’s a high intense workout plan, with lots of cardio and toning exercises. Good luck!

I agree with poster 1 and 2. Eat lots of veggies and lean meats. Have 5-6 small meals a day and do at least half an hour of cardio a day. It really does work. I did that last year for a friends wedding and lost 5 pounds in the first 3 weeks and over the next 8 weeks I added back in some whole grain carbs only because it was making working out hard and ended up loosing a total of 10 pounds. Healthy eating is the best or you will feel like crap. You can also add the Ali but it didnt work well for me while on that diet because I wasnt eating any fat for the ali to work on.

You are in my worst nightmare right now. I am praying for you to find a solution. I just bought a beautiful 1000.00 dollar dress on EBAY for 150.00 but it is 3 sizes too big and my fear is not getting it sized to fit intime for my wedding ( wich is 65 days away ). My prayers are with you.

Thank you ladies! I'm not freaking out as much anymore. I got on my scale and I did loose weight since my first fitting. They will let the dress out more (from the zipper) and I'll try to exercise more and eat more veggies and such to lose a little more - I'm afraid and full on diet will backfire on me because I'm not used to them and don't want to faint during my bridal shower (next week) or the wedding Smiley winking. I figured between the new alterations and if I continue to lose weight, I won't soffocate anymore. Smiley laugh

Great support from everyone though, thank you so much!

Is it possible for them to insert a panel to give it a corset back. I'm not sure what that would do to your gown or the cost but it may be a good backup.

Stop exercising and start just walking. If you are building muscle it can make the dress tighter. I was doing that and did not realize. Just eat a small healthy snack every two hours and drink nothing but water. I promise it will work. My dress is on the verge of not fitting and this is what I have been doing. Good Luck.

I am so sorry I can totally relate! My dress cam in a few days ago. I ordered it in March, one size smaller. I have lost 20lbs since then and when I went to try on my dress yesterday it wouldn't even go over my butt! Ugh! I am freaking out! I am doing Medifast and it really takes the weight of fast. I am going to walk 1-2 miles every night and drink gallons of water everyday. Can they actually make the dress bigger? Best of luck to you! Let me know if you have any tricks.

Watch a couple of episodes of Bulging Brides...those girls lose 10-20 pounds in only 6 weeks by working out for an hour 6 days a week, and eating healthy. I'm heping my neighbor do that too...you can do it but you HAVE to work HARD! No excuses! Watch some episodes to see the workout routines they do and how their eating habits change, it will give you some inspiration! Yes you will build muscle but if you're losing inches off your bust line, waist and hips that won't matter.

Oh and for everyone that wants to cut out carbs but it makes you want to die...try Ezekiel bread. It's a sprouted grain bread high in fiber and good for you. They make english muffins, hamburger buns, etc. I simply can't cut out bread so this has been a good alternative for me!
