My wedding dress is not as pictured. Help!

Leah, on November 12, 2019 at 3:19 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 10

Hi there! I ordered my dress online. I am about 70 percent happy with the overall fit, but the lace on the dress is not as pictured. And because I requested custom measurements I cannot return it. I contacted the company asking if I could have a partial refund and am waiting to hear back. What would you do if you were me? I am willing to spend a bit more, but would really like to diy it if I can. My thought is to alter the lace or completely redo the top with new lace. I am also looking into lace toppers. What are y'all's thoughts? I would love to hear your feedback! Thank you so much!!

Unless you have experience with altering dresses, I think I'd hand this over to a professional seamstress. They can work wonders and make your dress even more beautiful!

It seems you ordered the dress from a knockoff site so it makes sense that it looks different. I would take it to a seamstress and see what they can do.

What a difference! I would want partial payment back too!

I'd bring it to a seamstress to see if they can change the lace. Did you also want the bottom to match the image?

I agree with Kelly. Ask a seamstress what your options are and you might be able to find similar lace applique on Etsy.

That is a completely different type of lace and I would be upset too. I learned a lot about lace when I had my dress custom made by a local dressmaker because I was able to choose my own fabrics including the lace. It looks like the lace in the picture is a higher quality, more expensive lace than the lace you received on your dress. You would definitely need to redo the whole lace top because lace tops are done in whole one piece. I recommend taking it to an experienced bridal seamstress because working with lace is tricky.

I would find lace you like and take it to a professional wedding dress alterations specialist and get a price for creating a new top portion

I've seen seamstresses work magic on bridal gowns so I bet you can get exactly what you want!

I think a flower applique repeated would give a similar affect to the original. A chronoline will help too.
