MyFitnessPal vs. LoseIt!

Lucy, on May 1, 2014 at 3:31 AM Posted in Fitness and Health 0 14

Ok so I have been using my fitness pal religiously for a couple weeks, but decided to try out LoseIt as well to see if I liked the format better. Based on all the exact same information, (2 pounds per week, age, start weight, goal, activity level) LoseIt gave me 300 more calories to work with! What gives??? See, this is the kinda stuff that makes weight loss confusing! I Did anyone else notice this? I mean yeah i was pretty excited for those extra calories...but i don't know who to believe!!! That's a pretty big discrepancy right there...2100 a week!

I prefer lose it because it gives me more calories...however I have noticed with MFP, if I take a pic of the bar code, the calories info is usually off by 5-15 calories.

I have nothing against MFP, I've just been using Loseit! since 2009 and it's like a close friend to me. I really like the badges and the layout of the app.

You get 2100 calories per week? That seems a bit odd...or am I just not smart with this whole calorie thing lol

I think she means the differentiation between the apps added up over a week. 300 cal difference, times 7 days = 2100 cals. Threw me off at first, too!

I'm on MFP and have not been happy since they changed the format. I can no longer see my vitamin intake as the day goes. I care more about my nutrients than calories and carbs. I might give Loseit a try.

Haha sorry! yeah on my fitness pal it gives me 1200, and on lose it I get 1500. So 300 a day difference! I just don't get how both of them can be right...

I downloaded both and Lose It gave me 84cal a day more. I'm going with Lose It, not for the calories though but because I like the format better and used it in the past with great results.

Lucy, when you are using my fitness pal and you are adding in your workout each day or when you do then you will get added calories that you can eat.. if you don't eat them you get the benefit of losing more weight than you would at 2-3 lbs a week. If you cut back on the carbs they say and add protein over carbs you will lose more weight.

I never look at my calories because I can barely eat as many as they want but I'm using MFP now I may give loseit a try to see how the format its.. I also use MyDietCoach because I love the motivational quotes and craving countdown on it.
