Nails for wedding?

Mollie, on December 27, 2019 at 11:24 PM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 13
Hi all!

I love the look of long nails, but I'm a pianist so I have to keep my nails really short. I thought I would test out some long nails in anticipation of my upcoming wedding! I'd like your guys' input on them! They're Static Nails, which I like because they'll only stay on for a few days and won't damage my nails. However, I have square shaped natural nails so I'm not sure the long nail look will work for me. What do you think? Nails for wedding? 1

I think they’re pretty. And a nice color.

I agree with Leslie. I think they look great in the picture. If you're concerned about the shape, could you file them to the shape you want? You've also got nice, long nail beds, so what if you just did a couple rounds of gel polish about a month before your wedding? I have similar nail beds and I can get the look I want without too much length when I'm wearing gel polish.

The shape looks nice and won't ruin the shape of your real nails because they're longer.

I think they look ok, but don’t think the length is really going to make that much of a difference. I agree with what the other poster said, that you have really nice, long nailbeds. I do as well and have my nails filed round which gives them the look of being longer (I also have to keep my nails short because I’m a nurse). If you really want length, use the nails you found. Otherwise I would focus on finding a nice color and having a good manicure to shape them.

Filing an oval shape on your natural nail will make them appear elongated.

I'm a typist so I keep my nails short/medium length.

I use press-on nails when I want to dress mine up for fancy occasions because A. it's cheaper, and B. it doesn't do as much damage as acrylics. They last just about a week, which is usually plenty of time. They usually come with both glue and little adhesive strips - I use the glue personally but both work well, and both can be removed after a day or two if needed.

I think Static nails or press-ons are a great compromise and both will be temporary so you can get back to piano-playing right away. And bonus: you can file them into any shape or paint them any color (or buy a box in a pre-made color you love).

I've had great luck with press on nails but my friends and family scoff when I say I may wear them for the wedding. I think it'll be fine and I won't have to worry about ruining my nails, but they make me nervous.

Nah, don't let them scare you away! I'm either doing press ons or nail wraps. I'm not damaging my nails for one day of photos. The best thing about press on nails is that if you lose one, you just need to keep a little glue handy and pop one back on it its place -it only takes 30 seconds. If you lose an acrylic nail, not only is it painful, but you can't replace it, so you risk your manicure being jacked the rest of the day. Press ons are beautiful and while everyone is looking at your shiny new ring, they'll go "Girl, who did your nails?! They're gorgeous!" And you can keep your secret or spill the beans. I get compliments all the time on my press ons and I love telling people it was a $6 manicure. Smiley heart

Hey Jessica! I like the Kiss brand the best - they have a lot of varieties of colors and lengths, and they come with both stickers and nail glue (believe it or not, some brands don't provide glue). You get the best price at Walmart, but they sell them at Walgreens and Target as well. Pay attention to length. Some are short, medium, or long. I usually get medium for special occasions or short for every day use. You'll want to make sure they're longer than your natural nail, or else you'll have to trim your natural nail down.

Awesome, thank you! I think I have some French Kiss ones that are short, I got them when my nails were really short but now they aren't so I'd have to trim them down, but I'm excited to try them!

I love the static nails but they can be a bit long. If you want to play around with press on nails you can find some shorter ones by kiss at the pharmacy store. They have various lengths and are easy to file.
