Nails!!!!!

Missy, on May 1, 2019 at 3:25 PM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 19
When did or will you get your nails done for the big day? My wedding is Friday May 10th, and I’m going to get a manicure on Wednesday May 8th. What do y’all think? Is that too soon? Rehearsal is Thursday the 9th.

I'm getting mine done on the 10th for my 18th wedding. My nails aren't going to grow out so much in one week they look bad. I'll also be getting a spray tan, so have to have my nails done first. Plus, gives me a chance to get used to them being done.

Depends on what you are having done.

Shellac, bio gel and acrylic nails will be fine, but regular nail polish I would have done morning of or night before because it just doesn't last as long.

I got the gel nail polish so it lasted several weeks without chipping. I got my nails done Wednesday for my wedding which was a Saturday.

I’m getting mine done the day before my wedding (Saturday) because I am getting a spray tan on the Friday and would like that done before the nails.

I've heard to do nails first and then a spray tan so the soaking, exfoliates, etc they use on your nails doesn't mess up the tan. Any experience?

I have gotten them done both before and after! But I typically get basic acrylic service at my salon where you don’t get lotion/exfoliation/hot towel and they just do your cuticles and the nails. I think as long as your spray tan has set and you’ve showered there should be no issue unless they’re using something very abrasive. Pedicures may be a different story, I’ve never had a pedicure after a spray tan

I did my own nails but I painted them on Wednesday and then had a spray tan Thursday. Welcome party Friday and wedding Saturday.

I would say Thursday. I’m aiming to get mine the Friday before but that’s only because I always manage to chip mine no matter what

It depends on what you are getting done, and how often you have it done currently.

If you are doing a regular manicure with regular polish, do it the morning of, I find that they chip easily. Maybe even having someone come and do it while you are having hair and makeup done.

If you are doing a gel, it should be fine. I get gel manicures every 3 weeks, and they look "fresh" for the first 3ish days (in my opinion), they will look nice for the full 3 weeks, but I wouldn't want someone taking close-up pictures of my hand after those first 3 days.

If you are doing acrylic, have them done 2-3 days before, it will take you a few days to get used to them, and I find that when I have a full set put on they make my fingers sore for a day or so.

I'm waiting until the last possible moment, so that I don't do anything to mess them up!! I do a lot with my hands (cooking, gardening, cleaning, etc.) so they could get messed up. So, I'm getting married on a Saturday, I'll probably get my nails done that Wednesday or Thursday before. Not taking any chances! lol

I'm getting married on a Saturday. So I will be getting a manicure by myself on the Thursday before and then do the pedicure on Friday with the rest of my girls. This way it saves some time on rehearsal day as well as I will have my hands free if any one needs to contact me the day before the wedding.

I have a Saturday wedding and am planning on getting my nails done either Thursday afternoon or Friday at some point. That way any of my bridesmaids that are interested can come as well!
