Has anyone used the site "Miss Now Mrs" to change their name? How did it go?

Thanks!

You could look into HitchSwitch. They have great reviews.

Thank you!! I don't want to have to do any of that. HaHa! Looks like I'm doing it all myself. Ugh!

@MBean- That's true. Even though I've heard it's pretty hard to steal an identity. Not a huge concern of mine but that's a good point.

It's one of the biggest scams in the wedding industry IMO. Just go to the SSA, then DMV. I only have my CC that requires me to send/fax my marriage license. My bank only required me to show my old ID and new ID to change my name and it took a few minutes. When I went to the SSA, my number was called before I even finished the name change paperwork.

The process isn't as painful as it's made to seem.

It's a waste of money. Try "www.bridekit.com" it's free, and even it isn't a lot of help it's free.

All you really need is to get your 'real' license, contact SS ,then DMV, then everything else.

I didn't find it challenging to change my name at all, except with Wells Fargo oddly enough. I wouldn't waste the money.

It's not that much more difficult than changing your address. Really not hard at all and definitely doesn't require the help of paid services.

I'm curious, too! I saw hitchswitch has different levels of service... I just feel like I would forget something!

I know. The problem is average wait time at the DMV is like 3 hours and I don't even know about SS office. It's just a pain. Not that it's hard. Just would love if someone did it for me. HaHa!

The process was easy on my end. A few physical stops and some phone calls. The only part I was dreading was SS office because it was in the heart of downtown which I hate driving in. Get a few certified copies of your marriage license and you shouldn't have any trouble. The only place that gave me a hard time was my mortgage company. It took 2 months for them to spell my new last name correctly, even though H is on the account with the exact same name.

I thought about it and then like PPs, realized you still had to go anyhow. I went to SSA in West Palm Beach (and I think only one within 30mins) and was in and out in half hour. I went a few mins before it opened, and they had a kiosk where you select what you're there for. They have a separate line for SSC reprint, name change or replacements. I would avoid beginning/end of month, because I bet on days they are slammed with benefit issues are days they limit how many windows are open to name change. DMV was the same way, in FL the DMV has a wait time estimator. I saw one day during work that the wait time was 15min. I power walked from my work to the DMV and was in and out in like 25 mins because again they are screening what you're there for. Again I'd avoid beginning and end of month.

For me the worst has been CC changes and reps not know what the company's policy is to change. I've had to fax the same crap three times to one place because each person said something diff.

It was a super easy process. SS office then DMV. Both places took like 30 ish minutes. We're in a smaller town tho so I can't speak for everyone. Then just do the rest of everything at your own pace! One of our banks still has my old name bc I had to change my address and couldn't do both too close together.

Thanks!! I'll see if I can get an appointment. I know the DMV takes them just not sure for what services.
