Name Change Options

Hello everyone! We finally got married on 09/25/2020!! All the stress was well worth it and it was such a beautiful and surreal day!!

Now here’s a dilemma: the name change. I am taking my husbands last name. However, I’m kinda attached to my middle and last (maiden) name, lol! It’s just seems like a such a loss honestly. I don’t know if I want to lose my middle name or my maiden name. I’m not really interested in hyphenating either. What did you all choose?

I changed my name, but I use both socially (email signature, FB etc), so legally I’m a New Last Name but im not detached from Old Last Name.

I changed my last name. I already have two middle names so there was no way I was going to make my name even longer.

So this may seem stupid but oh well...I am keeping my middle name and making my maiden name my 2nd middle name and taking my hubby to be's last name. I figured that is only legally but I will refer to myself with his last name.

I'm choosing to not change my name at all. I have always found it to be an unnecessary tradition. Slavery was tradition, but we can all agree that it wasn't right....

I hyphenated. But you can still keep all of your names and just have 2 middles names. So, Kourtney Middle Maiden New Name. Then you could just go by Kourtney New Name, without hyphenating or losing one of your birth names.

That was my plan! But as it turns out, you have to get a court order to do that in my state, so I'm adding his last name to mine as a second last name without a hyphen.

I read a post the other day that included the line, "tradition is just peer pressure from dead people," and it was my favorite.
