For anyone who changed their name after marriage, Did you change your name on your college diploma? I understand why it would be helpful, so your name on your diploma and any professional licenses match. However, most applications for jobs or licensing ask for previous names, presumably for locating...

For anyone who changed their name after marriage,

Did you change your name on your college diploma? I understand why it would be helpful, so your name on your diploma and any professional licenses match. However, most applications for jobs or licensing ask for previous names, presumably for locating records associated with maiden names.

The general internet has been less than helpful in finding whether it's truly necessary, or just something people like to do. Has anyone left their degree in their maiden name and run into any problems?

I asked for my maiden name that's the only thing permanently yours.

My HS and AA degrees have my maiden name on them, as that's the name I had when I earned them. My BS and CPA have my (first) married name on them, as that was the name I had when I earned them. I will not be changing my name after marriage, as I only have about 5 years left to retirement. I "may" change my name after that, but haven't yet decided.

I'm wondering about this too. For years I figured I wasn't going to change my name because of this whole hastle, but recently I think i need to change my name. I'm thinking about not doing the diplomas because I spent so much to frame them already, but doing all the licenses, as PPs have reported.
