Who has decided to hyphenate? My wedding is in 38 days and I still haven't figured out what to do.

Do you have to make a decision immediately or right before your wedding? I took my time and finally decided on what I wanted to do 2 months after my wedding. I realized I was in my feelings about dropping any of my names (middle or maiden). Lol! I decided to take his last name, but I’m keeping my maiden name and making it a second middle name.

That's what I was thinking about doing. Having two middle names.

I was really conflicted. I knew I was going to take his name, but didn’t know what I wanted to do with my middle name or maiden name. I took a poll of my family and friends to see what they did before I made a decision. I didn’t expect to feel so conflicted when it came time to drop one. So I have 4 names — it’s a lot — but it’s me! Lol!!

My name is pretty long already, but I think I’m going to hyphenate it so myself and our future children will have the same last name.

As someone who has had two middle names her entire life, it isn't something I would recommend. It always confuses people when they see my license. It also is annoying when I'm filling out any type of paperwork with my full legal name on it.

Made my maiden name my middle name and took his last name. I get called by my maiden name, married name, and people will call me by a hyphenated version 🤷🏻‍♀️

I answer to all combos 😂

I was originally going to keep my last name and hyphenate. After thinking about it hard I decided to take his last name. My father raised me to take so much pride in myself and my last name. Part of the reason I’m changing my name is because after I’m married my FH is going to petition to adopt my daughter as his own. She wants to have both her last names. I told her we’re always a family no matter what our last name is but I’m ready to be a Case. (FH last name) I love him to death and I know I’m my heart I’m meant to take his last name.

I am going to hyphenate my last name bc I love my last name and it is hard to give it up. Plus, people call me by my last and it would be hard for them to get use to my new name.

I’m hyphenating or using both without a hypen. But I will certainly keep my maiden name present. This is my second marriage and for my first marriage I took his last name. Well, it didn’t take long for me to miss the last name I had all my life and actually question why I gave it up (I regretted not listening to my dad when he suggested that I hyphenate). Lol!! So this time… No way... I’m keeping my name because it’s meaningful to me (and just as meaningful as FH’s last name)

I wanted to hyphenate mine but my Fiance doesn't want me to, so I will change it. Another option is replacing your middle name with your maiden name and take his last name, my sister did that to keep hers.

I decided to hyphenate my name because it's a unique last name and hard for me to let go. I know this may not have been much help. But whatever choice YOU decide to make will be okay. Congratulations!
