Nice! I think it will pick up more popularity as time goes on.

I’m changing my name. I used to be unsure but I have a few reasons... Right now my initials are T.P. I get teased a lot less now as an adult than I did back in elementary but it still bugs me. That and I work in the family business; I feel some people I work with assume nepotism instead of me being good at my job.

    No change!
MIL didn't change hers, and she discreetly asked me what I was doing. When I told her, "NOPE, not changing!" she just smiled and said, "good girl". (She had been previously married, changed her name, and when she got divorced, she went back to her own name and kept it.)

DH never even considered asking me to change it.

I'm taking his as I feel zero responsibility to my current last name as I have a male cousin who will carry the family name. Last thing I can be rid of in direct connection to my father who has done nothing for me.

I've always loved my FH last name, Corona. When covid came I decided I wouldn't let all the negativity around the word change how I feel about it. Also, I grew up in a household where everyone had different last names (mom, stepdad, and I) so I would love for my kids and I to share the family name.

I'd intended to be hyphenated, but now I'm not so sure. I don't have any attachment to my surname, and I already changed it from my birth surname which I hated.
I'd be game for creating a new surname for us both if FH isn't too attached to his. 🙂

Hi! We decided I'd hyphenate my last name for outward facing things like emails, business cards etc but will not change it legally. Its so much money and time to get this done just isn't worth it. My husband also offered to hyphenate his name so we both have the exact same last name but his name is super long already so that didn't happen Smiley smile

Yes, that seems to be the most popular choice.

Doing a double last name to mine (without a hyphen) so I can use my last name professionally given my license

I'm keeping mine, if I took FH's my initials would be C.D.C., and I also have always loved my last name. I live in the largest city in my state, and the only people who have my last name are all related to me.

There's a lot of countries in the world that don't do the name change thing, so I don't feel weird about it. Although FMIL figuring it out is going to be a ride.

I'm with you Courtney! About 2/3 of the world, the women do not change their last names after marriage.

I debated a lot about this. I wanted to hyphenate, but my fiancé’s last name is already hyphenated, so I’m opting for a double middle name. It’ll be First Name, Middle Name, Maiden Name, FH’s Last Name
