Nationwide Lockdown

Jasmine, on March 17, 2020 at 11:24 AM Posted in Community Conversations 0 12

I heard it's supposed to happen. There's a few things I wanted to get done this week so now I don't even know if it's still possible. We had to cancel our reception since we have now BOTH been laid off from work until further notice. I wanted to get my hair done this week because we're SUPPOSED to be in Arizona this weekend with my family so don't even know if that's happening anymore and I'm starting to have serious dress regret and not even sure if I can even make an appointment since establishments are shutting down. I was hoping to get it out the way before I make my next payment for it but I guess we'll see what happens.

How is everyone else holding up?

Our state has completely shut down all schools for the next two weeks and most restaurants are only open via drive-thru, no dining in. I'm expecting them to close further as we just had the first death in our state yesterday. Could you share the link you saw about the nationwide lockdown? I know I've seen articles pertaining to Spain, Italy, & France on lockdown, I just haven't seen on for us yet and want to stay as informed as possible throughout this whole thing. As of now, the company I work for doesn't have any plans to shut down Smiley atonished

I don't have a link. I just heard from a friend who knows someone who works for secret service and their dad told them that there should be an announcement tomorrow for all non-essential businesses to close for a few weeks. So we'll see what happens.

Oh gosh, now I'm anxious lol. I'm just waiting for the CDC to update the case records for today, they update every weekday at noon. I think Trump said that yesterday that they didn't have any immediate plans for a nationwide lockdown, but I definitely wouldn't be surprised if that's changed given how quickly things have escalated. Hopefully we'll know something concrete soon. I also hope things will start to open up in your area soon so that you can get back on track with your planning!

Yea, it's pretty insane. I hope it's not just runaround news. And thanks! I hope I can continue planning too but even though it's giving me anxiety, I know there's more important things surrounding the situation so I'm trying to keep a level head about everything.

The mandatory quarantine rumor that’s floating around isn’t based in fact. https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/white-house-quarantine-text/?collection-id=238766

In the US I think most guidelines come from state and local officials and it just depends on where you live. Where I live pretty much all non essential businesses are closed.

Yea, that's what I'm talking about. Apparently where I live, the whole non-essential announcement is supposed to be made tomorrow.

So sorry about your work! I think a lockdown would be possible and probably reasonable, considering the situation. I wish you all the best and keep your heads up! Smiley heart

Well I don't have dress regret but i do have major bustle regret lol. I spent 200 dollars on that thing lol. We are not cancelling the ceremony. I am trying to find a way to still have a reception type. We are only having 37 guest. But I am going to talk to my fh and tell him we are going to tell all outside guest to not come. Its too much of a risk. I can't help but have a big guilt for even having it. I am thinking of the photographer, the priest, the 2 women i hired to sing during the ceremony. I fear that the might get it from a guest that doesn't even show any signs. I wish this was an easy decision.

I totally understand. We're looking for some kind of alternative as well. Our ceremony is small too. I've already emailed a few restaurants so fingers crossed.

Thank you! I definitely needed that. Its going to be rough now that we just got word all non essential businesses are shut down for the next 30 days so I don't know if I'm going to get a response back from anyone in the meantime.
